As it stands, both houses of Congress are almost evenly split between Democrats and Republicans.
Some politicians think that gives them cover to sell out conservatives.
But Mike Johnson may never recover after a top Republican dropped this brutal truth bomb.
Conservatives are not accepting leadership’s betrayal

Even the most principled conservatives often become completely unrecognizable moderates after only a short time in the Washington, D.C. Swamp.
That’s much of the problem conservatives are starting to witness with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).
At first, Johnson seemed like a decent fit to many conservatives.
However, his recent moves have left many outraged.
Not only has Johnson helped fuel Bidenflation by cowering in fear of the Democrats’ government shutdown bogeyman and giving Joe Biden and the Democrats virtually every penny in tax dollars they’ve demanded, but now he’s keeping the warrantless spying powers in place that Hillary Clinton used to cook up Russia collusion and get the intelligence community to illegally spy on Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Jonhson not only rammed an extension of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) through the House, he also refused to support even a recorded vote on an amendment to require the government to get a warrant to search through Americans’ private communications.
Johnson infuriated conservatives with his support for essentially giving the Federal Government carte blanche power to conduct warrantless surveillance under the guise of protecting “national security.”
Rand Paul just set the record straight as Speaker Johnson strays from his conservative roots
Now, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is blasting Johnson for supporting these measures.
Paul went on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo and pummeled Johnson, saying that he sees no difference between the RINO-favored policies GOP leadership is currently pushing and Democrats’ agenda.
“As I see it now, I’m not sure there’s a difference between Mike Johnson and being in charge and the Democrats being in charge,” the conservative Kentucky Senator charged.
“People have to be strong in their convictions. He was seen as a conservative before he came to the speakership … If he wants to remain speaker, frankly, he’s [got] to do better. He’s got to be a leader of his party, not capitulate to the other party,” Paul continued.
Johnson has since defended his actions, insisting his calculations have been aimed at helping the GOP.
“Keep and grow the House majority, win back the Senate, and win back the White House,” Johnson explained of his political calculations, adding, despite evidence to the contrary, that “The party is 100% united on that agenda.”
As it stands, Mike Johnson faces a growing revolt from conservatives within the Republican Party, including from members of Congress Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Thomas Massie (R-KY).
Both of these lawmakers have recently teed up their support for another motion to vacate to remove Johnson from the speakership – possibly even before the elections this November.
Uncertain future
Even though the November elections are less than seven months away, it’s possible Johnson may not last that long as Speaker.
The turmoil surrounding Johnson demonstrates the divide among Republicans when it comes to granting the government broad sweeping surveillance powers.
And with the GOP establishment seemingly in lockstep on helping Democrats ram through their agenda, conservatives may have to escalate their opposition to Johnson even as November inches closer.
