Joe Biden is losing ground in the 2024 race.
Democrats are realizing his reelection will not be a shoo-in.
And James Carville told Joe Biden one thing that set off alarm bells for Democrats.
Democrats and their media allies have spent the last eight years condemning Donald Trump in the harshest terms possible.
Yet Trump still leads Joe Biden in the polls.
Biden and his campaign, however, are ignoring polling data at their own peril, says top Clinton adviser James Carville.
The old-school political operator told Maureen Dowd in a New York Times piece, “When the polls are not good, you don’t believe in polls. . .If the polls are good, you believe in polls.”
The party of snooty elites
Carville also diagnosed why Biden and the Democrats are struggling with black and Latino voters, particularly men.
He said, “A suspicion of mine is that there are too many preachy females” controlling the direction of the Democrat Party.
He continued, “‘Don’t drink beer. Don’t watch football. Don’t eat hamburgers. This is not good for you.’ The message is too feminine: ‘Everything you’re doing is destroying the planet. You’ve got to eat your peas’. . .If you listen to Democratic elites — NPR is my go-to place for that — the whole talk is about how women, and women of color, are going to decide this election. I’m like: ‘Well, 48 percent of the people that vote are males. Do you mind if they have some consideration?’”
The Left has been ignoring this truth for years even though over-the-top “woke” messaging in film, television, and commercials is being rejected by the masses, especially young men.
A recent study showed that Gen Z males are trending more conservative while Gen Z females are becoming even more liberal.
Carville also took aim at politically correct cancel culture run amok.
LSU gone PC
He recounted the story of why he quit teaching at LSU, his alma mater, after backlash for an off-color joke.
Carville told his students how to properly open a champagne bottle, explaining, “I said: ‘Here’s what you’re going to do. You don’t pop it like you see in the movies or you’re going to poke somebody’s eye out. You take the foil off. Now you’re going to take a dishcloth, and you’re going to execute the classic counterclockwise movement. The bottle is going to go one way; the cork is going to go the other way. You just ease it out, and the sound that you are looking for is the sigh of a satisfied woman.’”
Unsurprisingly, that joke did not go over well with the “woke” college crowd.
Carville said, “The next Tuesday, the dean comes into my office and he said: ‘I’m closing the door. We need to have a talk.’”
A female student had complained about the joke.
Carville added, “This was L.S. freaking U., not Oberlin. . .It was terrible. I wouldn’t take the coeds to dinner after class. I would take the male students. I was scared to death in my job. I was like: ‘I don’t need L.S.U.’s money. I don’t need to drive up there and listen to that crap.’ I just said: ‘That’s it. I’m done. This is not for me.’”
That saga is a big reason why Biden is losing, but the Democrat elites refuse to listen.
