American companies, both large and small, have started prioritizing “woke” political causes over turning profits.

As a result, many of these companies have faced significant backlash from consumers.

And Coca-Cola may become the latest major corporation to face woke backlash.

Most successful business leaders know that dabbling in politics often comes with negative ramifications.

For decades, many companies avoided overt political messaging, even if they gave large sums of money to political candidates.

However, in recent years, companies like Disney, Target, Bud Light, and Planet Fitness have come under fire for pushing “woke” agendas, leading to costly boycotts.

House Judiciary Committee’s Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a letter to beverage giant Coca-Cola, seeking information about any involvement Coca-Cola may have had with trade groups such as the World Federation of Advertisers and the Global Alliance for Responsible Media.

The World Federation of Advertisers and the Global Alliance for Responsible Media have come under fire for focusing massive resources on creating “brand safety standards” for the content they advertise on, which many Americans simply refer to as censorship.

Some believe that companies like Coca-Cola may have worked with these organizations that promote “content moderation” by determining which podcasts receive ad revenue or not.

Content creators sometimes refer to these actions as “demonetization,” where the creator receives no money for creating content that strays from the host platform’s political agenda, regardless of how popular their content is.

In the case of The Joe Rogan Experience, Spotify and other platforms went to significant lengths to moderate his content, flagging any podcast that even discussed the COVID-19 pandemic.

As it stands, The Joe Rogan Experience is the most popular podcast on Spotify, bringing Spotify and its advertisers massive amounts of revenue.

However, Joe Rogan and many of his guests dared to question Dr. Anthony Fauci, the COVID-19 vaccine, and other government responses to COVID-19, resulting in his content being flagged.

Notorious left-wing artists such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell went as far as to remove their content from Spotify, demanding that Rogan and his podcast be canceled.

Among other communications, Jordan’s letter requested the beverage giant produce “all documents and communications, including but not limited to communications with WFA or GARM or WFA or GARM members, referring or relating to advertising, so-called misinformation, so-called harmful content, or disfavored content on Spotify and the Joe Rogan Experience.”

It’s unclear what exactly the link between Coca-Cola and the Rogan podcast may be or if Jordan is hunting out references to it that may have been used as short-hand to describe the type of content the company may have wanted silenced.

Coca-Cola has yet to respond; however, if Coca-Cola did help to fund organizations that facilitate the moderation of right-leaning content, then it could have major ramifications for their bottom line.

Coca-Cola may learn a very painful lesson in the near future

Americans have grown sick and tired of leftist companies shoving “woke” messages down their throats.

However, if Coca-Cola did indeed work with content moderation companies to leverage their influence on content creators, then it could create a massive backlash against the world-famous brand.

And as Disney, Target, and Bud Light have painfully learned, no company is too large to avoid these sorts of costly boycotts and backlashes.
