The “woke” mob comes for all.

It does not matter how liberal you are.

But no one expected what came next after Jerry Seinfeld made this eye-opening comment.

Seinfeld came unglued over one major problem in modern entertainment

Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is sick of “[politically correct] crap” infecting the world of comedy.

He threw The New Yorker for a loop when he called out the “extreme left” for kneecapping comedy, which did not go over well with leftists.

During the interview, Seinfeld explained that audiences are yearning for comedy.

He said, “They need it so badly and they don’t get it. It used to be, you would go home at the end of the day, most people would go, ‘Oh, Cheers is on. Oh, M*A*S*H is on. Oh, Mary Tyler Moore is on. All in the Family is on.’ You just expected, there’ll be some funny stuff we can watch on TV tonight.”

But comedy in film and television is not nearly as prevalent as it once was.

Seinfeld added, “Well, guess what — where is it? This is the result of the extreme left and P.C. crap and people worrying so much about offending other people.”

That is not an exaggeration

Many Americans have bemoaned the lack of edgy comedies on television and in theaters.

The refusal of corporate executives at networks and studios to listen to disgruntled audiences has created a renaissance of independent standup comedy.

Seinfeld continued, “Now they’re going to see standup comics because we are not policed by anyone. The audience polices us. We know when we’re off track. We know instantly and we adjust to it instantly.”

Standup comedians once died to get a five-minute set on The Tonight Show or Letterman, but the old model has broken down.

Many of the most successful standups forged their own paths through YouTube.

Seinfeld also critiqued the joke-by-committee process of the current studio system.

The day(s) the laughter died

He explained, “But when you write a script and it goes into four or five different hands, committees, groups — ‘Here’s our thought about this joke’. . .Well, that’s the end of your comedy.”

Scripts have to go through an approval process, and in many instances, left-wing advocacy groups like GLAAD are allowed to give input.

In response to Seinfeld’s comments, Elon Musk tweeted, “Make comedy legal again!”

Comedians are supposed to be able to say whatever they want.

The audience will decide whether or not it’s funny.

But top-down censors and activist groups using the heckler’s veto have attempted to kill comedy that “punches down.”

Just look at how “woke” trans-identifying zealots tried to torpedo Dave Chappelle’s career.

Seinfeld was the first big-name comedian who said he stopped playing at colleges because of the “woke” students.

Things have come full circle, and now perhaps Seinfeld is driving a stake in the heart of “woke” comedy.
