Democrats and their media allies are hoping to drag Joe Biden across the finish line again.

They are running the 2020 playbook to a tee.

But Biden was seething when he read one takedown of the Democrat Party.

Over 20 years ago, Democrats thought that they were building an unstoppable voting bloc.

Legal and illegal immigration from Latin America was supposed to stop Republicans from winning national elections indefinitely.

Rosy liberal projections

Liberal Social Scientist Ruy Teixeira wrote about it in the 2002 book The Emerging Democratic Majority.

Democrat-controlled media outlets began triumphantly talking about the “browning of America” and how it would reshape the electorate.

Barack Obama’s election and re-election in 2008 and 2012 were deemed proof of the new Democrat coalition, but it has not come to fruition.

Now, Teixeira is warning that the Democrats are in serious trouble.

He first made waves when he took a job at the right-leaning Washington, D.C. think tank AEI.

Teixeira wrote in a recent article, “Democratic Party identification has been declining throughout Biden’s presidency and is now at its lowest level since 1988. Looming over this trend and all the other rough results for the Democrats cited here is the indisputable fact that Democratic poor performance is being driven by defections among working-class (noncollege) voters of all races.”

Particularly concerning for Democrats is the defection of nonwhite men.

The boogeyman of omnipresent racism is not quite as effective as it once was for the Democrat Party.

People fed up

Teixeira added that “the cultural left in and around the Democratic Party has managed to associate the party with a series of views on crime, immigration, policing, free speech and of course race and gender that are quite far from those of the median voter. . .Whatever else the Democrats’ left turn on cultural issues is accomplishing, it’s not doing them much good among the nonwhite voters—especially nonwhite working-class voters—who, activists assured them, were thirsting for the maximally ‘progressive’ position on these issues.”

Democrats keep leaning into “wokeness” even though virtually every demographic outside of college-educated women despise it.

Teixeira also hit Biden and the Democrats on their reckless immigration policy.

He pointed out that “[i]t is not the working class that believes you should never refer to illegal immigrants as ‘illegal’ and that border security is somehow a racist idea. It is not the working class that believes an overwhelming surge of migrants at the southern border should be accommodated with asylum claims, parole arrangements, and release into urban areas around the country.”

Democrats are enacting increasingly radical policies, and they believe that their traditional voting blocs will follow them no matter what.

It turns out that that is not the case, and thus far, Democrats are not recalibrating.

That could doom them in November 2024.
