Apple News already had a federal warning for hiding conservative stories from 125 million Americans.
A new investigation just caught Apple editors making the same choice again – right before the midterms.
What they decided to hide about the DNC is something Democrats needed to stay buried.
Apple News Conservative Censorship Buried 78 DNC Debt Stories Before the Midterms
The Media Research Center spent nine months watching Apple News make editorial choices.
Researchers checked the top 20 promoted stories every single morning – starting January 1 and running straight through September 28, just weeks before Election Day.
In all that time, not one story about the DNC's ballooning debt made the cut.
Researchers identified 78 stories about the DNC's financial troubles – including at least 14 from publications Apple News frequently promotes, like USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Fox News, and The Washington Post – and not one reached Apple's users.
MRC President David Bozell didn't soften it.
"Apple isn't curating the news," Bozell said. "It's running a high-tech protection racket for the political left."
Apple News has 125 million monthly users and comes pre-installed on every Apple device.
A story Apple promotes can reach between one million and 20 million readers.
Apple chose silence every time.
This came after Apple News had already gone 96 consecutive days without featuring a single story from a conservative outlet in its morning top stories.
Not Fox News. Not the Daily Wire. Not Breitbart. Nothing.
The DNC Debt Crisis Apple News Refused to Cover
Kamala Harris burned through $1.5 billion in a campaign she lost and left the DNC buried under more than $20 million in debt.
The party scrambled, took out a $15 million loan in late 2025, and still entered 2026 more than $17 million in the hole.
By June, FEC filings showed the DNC sitting on $16.3 million in cash against $18.5 million in debt – meaning Democrats were running a $2.2 million deficit with midterms on the horizon.
The Republican National Committee, meanwhile, had $230 million in the bank and zero debt.
That is not a fundraising gap. That is a collapse.
DNC Chairman Ken Martin's own donors went public demanding his removal – more than half a dozen telling reporters they had completely cut off the DNC under his leadership.
Insiders leaked that Martin himself told associates he didn't know if he wanted to keep doing the job.
Some Democrats began questioning the party's "very purpose entirely."
Apple News had 78 chances to surface the story.
Google News runs on algorithms. Apple News runs on people.
Apple's editors hand-select what appears in the top stories each morning.
Those editors saw 78 different reports about a Democratic Party in financial freefall and decided, 78 times in a row, that none of it was worth showing.
Tim Cook Gave Trump $1 Million While His Editors Ran Cover for Democrats
This was not the first warning sign.
In January 2026, MRC documented that zero of 620 top Apple News morning stories came from a right-leaning outlet – 71 percent came from left-leaning sources while conservative outlets were shut out entirely.
FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson sent a formal warning letter to Tim Cook.
The message was direct: market a platform as neutral while applying an ideological filter, and the federal government will act.
Apple has still not responded publicly.
Cook personally handed Trump $1 million, attended the inauguration, and has been at the White House all year.
MRC documented the other side of that ledger: those same editors spent the year flooding iPhones with relentlessly negative coverage of Trump's immigration and foreign policy.
The FTC told Cook to fix it.
The new MRC report confirms he didn't.
Bozell said: "For years, the media lectured Americans about 'dirty money in politics' whenever Republicans had the fundraising advantage. Now Democrats are facing a financial mess of their own making, and suddenly the story isn't worth telling."
This is what a protection racket looks like in the digital age.
Apple's editors didn't accidentally miss 78 stories about a broke Democratic Party nine months straight – they made 78 deliberate choices to keep Americans in the dark, right before a national election, with the party they're protecting running $230 million behind its competition.
The DNC is broke.
Apple News spent nine months making sure the country didn't find out.
