Censorship is alive and well.
Big Tech is in the back pocket of the Democrat Party and happy to remove speech that may harm Biden and his administration.
Now, though, the CEO of YouTube is refusing to say whether or not they removed a video at the request of this communist leader.
Alexei Navalny is the leader of the Russian opposition and anti-corruption activists.
Navalny gained worldwide attention by organizing anti-government demonstrations and running for office to advocate for reforms against corruption in Russia, and against Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin.
In August of 2020, Navalny was hospitalized in serious condition after he was poisoned with a nerve agent – he was medically evacuated to Berlin where he stayed for a month.
Navalny believes Putin was behind the poisoning.
In January of 2021, when Navalny returned to Russia, authorities detained him on accusations of violating parole conditions that had resulted from a 2014 conviction.
Authorities say Navalny was in violation while in Berlin because he failed to report to Russia’s Federal Prison Service twice per month.
Navalny remains in prison in Russia where he continues to accuse Putin of corruption and advocate for government reform in the country.
Given his fame around the globe, Navalny has amassed more than six million YouTube subscribers and more than two million Twitter followers.
The Wall Street Journal described Navalny as “the man President Vladimir Putin fears most.”
Now questions are being asked about whether or not YouTube is censoring Navalny at the request of Vladimir Putin himself.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki declined to say whether the company took down material from Alexei Navalny at the request of Putin ahead of Russia’s elections.
“One of the things that’s important to us at YouTube is the fact that we do enable so many voices and that we do enable people to express themselves and really celebrate the freedom of speech,” Wojcicki said.
Interesting statement given the constant censoring of anything that relates to Donald Trump.
Wojcicki did say the company has to take many things into consideration when working with foreign governments.
Apple and YouTube’s parent company Google have both been accused of censorship after they removed an app created by Navalny under pressure from the Kremlin.
Even after being directly asked whether YouTube deleted Navalny’s videos at the request of Putin, Wojcicki evaded answering directly.
More information is surfacing about Big Tech not just censoring what is being said in the U.S. but also colluding with communist governments.
These are scary times when a few clicks of a keyboard can completely do away with an opinion someone doesn’t “like” or “support.”
Now companies are putting the U.S.’s security at risk by freely and willingly working with communist governments.
