Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker created a media firestorm by speaking the truth to college students.
Now he’s in the crosshairs of cancel culture for his beliefs.
And Bill Maher gave the woke outrage mob this reality check for attacking Harrison Butker.
Kansas City Chiefs star has the media after him for college commencement address
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is one of the top players at his position in the NFL.
And he arguably was the difference in his team’s narrow 25-22 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers in the last Super Bowl when he kicked three field goals.
Butker – a devout Catholic – gave the commencement speech at Benedictine College – a small Catholic liberal arts school in Kansas – that stressed the importance of motherhood to the female graduates.
“How many of you are sitting here now about to cross this stage and are thinking about all the promotions and titles you are going to get in your career?” Butker asked the college’s female graduates. “Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world, but I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.”
Celebrating motherhood is in line with Catholic teachings and his message is noncontroversial to most Americans.
But Butker has criticized President Joe Biden for claiming to be a Catholic while celebrating abortion.
The media pounced on the story to attack him as a misogynist who didn’t want women to work.
Bill Maher comes to the defense of Harrison Butker
Left-wing comedian Bill Maher was the voice of reason on the manufactured Butker controversy.
He mocked Butker’s detractors for portraying him as “history’s greatest monster” on his HBO show Real Time.
“I can’t express how much this guy is not like me,” Maher said. “He’s religious. He loves marriage. He loves kids… And he’s now history’s greatest monster.”
Maher is an atheist who’s never been married or had children.
“Again, I don’t agree with much with this guy, but I don’t get the thing,” Maher explained. “He said… ‘Some of you may go on to lead successful careers in the world.’ Ok, that seems fairly, like, modern. ‘But I would venture to guess that the majority of you are most excited about your marriage and the children you will bring into this world.’ I don’t see what the big crime is. I really don’t.”
The woke outrage mob was counting on the public only hearing their spin on Butker’s speech.
Maher noted the irony of woke pro-Hamas colleges outraged Butker.
“I find it very ironic that he’s saying, ‘You know what, in my world, you know, we like the women to stay at home and just have babies’ and the college kids and the young people find this absolutely abhorrent, but they’re demonstrating for Hamas, who make that the law!” Maher exclaimed. “It’s not just an opinion in Hamas, that you stay home and have the babies. They will enforce you [to do] that!”
Leftist target NFL players like Butker and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers for speaking out against their preferred political narrative.
They’re used to dominating every major institution in the country.
