Barack Obama spent eight years trying to silence conservatives from inside the White House.
Now he just flew to London to help foreign governments do what he never finished at home.
He told that crowd exactly what he wants done to the conservative platforms that are still standing.
Barack Obama stood before Londoners and finally dropped the pretense.
"Democracy is weakening because of social media influencers and conspiracy theorists who promote white supremacy and racism, and junk science," he told the crowd.
"Tech platforms need oversight."
The platforms where conservatives share news, organize, and push back against the media establishment need a government hand on the throttle.
Obama made it clear that the First Amendment had to go.
"I'm convinced that right now, we, as a people, and people around the world, are consuming information, and that their decisions have an impact on every aspect of society," Obama continued. "With that power comes accountability, and in democracies like ours, at least, the need for some democratic oversight."
"Democratic oversight" of speech is what the left calls censorship when they need it to sound reasonable.
The UK's Labour government heard exactly what Obama wanted them to hear.
The UK Online Safety Act Obama Just Endorsed Already Has Americans Facing Criminal Charges
The UK's Online Safety Act doesn't need Obama's blessing.
It's already running.
Within days of the law taking full effect, British regulators used it to censor footage of a Parliamentary speech about Pakistani grooming gangs – a sitting lawmaker, inside her own Parliament, silenced.
American companies are already receiving threatening letters from Ofcom, the UK's internet regulator.
Under the law's provisions, American employees of non-compliant tech companies face criminal charges and up to two years in a British prison.
Rumble – the conservative video platform – has no meaningful user base in the United Kingdom.
British regulators tried to drag them in for compliance meetings anyway.
Rep. Jim Jordan didn't miss it.
"UK REGULATORS THREATEN AMERICAN COMPANIES WITH CENSORSHIP," he posted after watching Ofcom pressure American platforms into submission.
Jordan traveled to Brussels, London, and Dublin and delivered one conclusion: European governments are building a speech enforcement machine that doesn't stop at their own borders.
Trump's team confirmed the concern – administration members were monitoring the Online Safety Act with "great interest and concern" after key allies confirmed it was being used to censor free speech and impose punishing regulatory burdens on American businesses.
The mechanism exists and it’s being used.
Obama flew to London and cheered for it.
Obama Has Been Targeting First Amendment Free Speech for Years
Obama has been pushing government control of social media for years. Last fall at a policy forum, he openly called for "government regulatory constraints" to solve what he called "diversity of facts" on social media – his term for letting Americans read things the establishment has decided are wrong.
His former vice president's administration had already executed that vision. The White House pushed social media companies through the Departments of State and HHS to demonetize conservative voices, restrict pandemic dissent, and suppress speech that contradicted official government narratives.
Now Obama's running the same play without the White House.
His Obama Foundation operates active leadership programs across 46 European nations, training what it calls "changemakers" in government, business, and nonprofits to build the speech-suppression network he wants.
The 2025-2026 Leaders Europe cohort launched this week.
This isn't retired-politician hobby work.
He told those Londoners what to do and his Foundation is already training the people who will carry it out.
And the UK's Online Safety Act gives them the legal authority to reach across the Atlantic and hit American companies.
That's three facts in sequence – not a conspiracy theory.
The Left spent a decade telling conservatives they were paranoid about censorship.
They built the apparatus anyway.
Obama just flew to a foreign country to make sure it's still pointed at the right targets.
