Sham romance?
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce set the entertainment world on fire when they went public with their relationship last fall.
Swift was spotted at several Kansas City Chiefs games throughout the year, and the two had a storybook ending to the season when Kelce kissed Swift on the field after winning the Super Bowl in February.
Kelce then met up with Swift on various stops of her worldwide Eras Tour.
There was even speculation that a wedding engagement could be coming soon.
But the latest scandal just put their entire relationship into question.
The Daily Mail posted pictures of a document purportedly created by Full Scope PR, Kelce’s agency, that suggested the Swift-Kelce romance was a sham.
The document included an end date for the relationship and potential reasons for the breakup.
The document read, “Example: Travis and Taylor have decided to part ways after careful consideration. They both value and respect each other’s personal lives and appreciate your respect for privacy during this time. . .They are both committed to their careers and personal growth. They remain friends and wish each other the best.”
The breakup statement would be “gracious, respectful and stress mutual respect,” according to the document.
Fake Hollywood relationships with contractual terms are a real thing, which is why the document has been given some credence.
The relationship has certainly been good for both Swift and Kelce’s brands.
Kelce is making lucrative deals in preparation for life after football.
Kelce and his brother Jason, who retired last year from the Philadelphia Eagles, recently sold their podcast for $100.
Travis Kelce is also dabbling in acting, and he is set to be the host of Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?
However, Kelce’s management team vehemently denied the Daily Mail report.
The “it” couple is still going
A Full Scope PR representative responded, “We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents.”
Time will tell if the document was legitimate.
The Daily Mail is not some anonymous blog, so editors must have felt comfortable enough with the sourcing for the story.
That said, the document very well could be part of an elaborate hoax.
Nevertheless, the damage has already been done.
A handful of people will now view the couple’s relationship with skepticism.
Swift’s team has not released a statement, a source told Yahoo Entertainment that the two were still “going strong.”
The source said, “It’s funny people fell for that. . .It’s a cliché way to put it, but honestly Taylor and Travis are going strong. They’re solid.”
Swifties and Kelce fans will have to wait to see what happens next in the couple’s romance.
