Watchdog Exposed the Deep State Democrats Running Tax Policy Inside the Trump IRS

Obama's IRS targeted Tea Party groups while the administration lied to Congress about it.

Now a watchdog has found Obama and Biden loyalists still embedded inside the IRS with power over your tax dollars.

And one of them gave Democrats more money than she earns in a year.

Two Obama and Biden Donors Are Running IRS Tax Policy Right Now

One week before an election that decides control of Congress, investigative reporter Jordan Schachtel has identified two senior officials inside the Treasury Department and IRS who have poured money into Democratic campaigns – and they're still shaping your tax policy from the inside.

Erika Nijenhuis serves as senior counsel in Treasury's Office of Tax Policy.

She joined the department in September 2019 and hit the legal cap on her personal donation to Joe Biden's 2020 presidential campaign – $2,800, the maximum allowed by law.

FEC records show she has sent more than $200,000 to Democratic candidates and committees over her career, most of it before she joined the government, on a salary of approximately $191,000 a year.

She gave Democrats more than she makes.

The Acting IRS Chief Counsel Donated to Obama Twice

Kevin Salinger holds two jobs simultaneously: Assistant Secretary for Tax Policy and acting IRS Chief Counsel.

That gives him direct authority over the regulatory rules governing how every American pays their taxes – and FEC records show he cut checks to Obama for America during both the 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns.

Tom Jones, President of the American Accountability Foundation, told The Dossier: "Cleaning out the deep state across the federal government is a gargantuan task, but President Trump can't deliver his America First agenda while people who oppose it hold senior policymaking roles in his administration."

Jones added that fewer than 1% of Americans ever donate to political campaigns – yet two top Treasury officials have given to Obama, Biden, Hillary Clinton, and "a long list of other leftists."

Jones called for their immediate removal, and he's right.

Nijenhuis and Salinger aren't low-level technicians quietly processing forms – they're senior policymakers with the authority to shape how the IRS interprets the tax code, and an election next week could give Democrats the cover to keep both of them in place.

Obama's IRS Targeted Conservative Groups Before and Got Away With It

Obama's IRS began targeting Tea Party and patriot groups as early as 2010, selecting conservative organizations for extra scrutiny, demanding donor lists, and deliberately stalling their applications for tax-exempt status.

The 2013 Treasury Inspector General report confirmed the Obama IRS had targeted, pressured, and harassed conservative groups for opposing his agenda.

Lawsuits dragged on for years before the Justice Department finally settled them in 2017.

During Biden’s term, an IRS contractor stole and leaked the confidential tax records of thousands of Americans — including President Trump himself — to The New York Times and ProPublica.

Biden donors are still writing tax policy from inside the agency.

The American Accountability Foundation's broader investigation found that 60% of officials in the IRS commissioner and deputy commissioner's office have bankrolled or publicly backed left-wing causes.

These are the people with the legal power to audit you, freeze your accounts, and blow up your finances – and decide whether your return gets flagged.

If Democrats retake either chamber next Tuesday, every one of these entrenched bureaucrats gains the political cover they need to run out the clock on Trump's second term.

They won't just slow-walk the president's agenda – they'll have congressional allies providing air cover while they do it.

People who bankroll Democrat campaigns don't belong in senior policymaking positions inside a Republican administration – not while they hold the power to interpret your tax code at an agency that's already shown exactly what it does with that power when Democrats have its back.
