Tucker Carlson has been attacked mercilessly by the establishment.
He is one of the few journalists willing to call out dishonest brokers on both sides.
And Tucker Carlson called out the Washington D.C. Swamp for pushing one disturbing policy.
Establishment figures on both the Left and the Right scoffed at Donald Trump’s anger over the actions of a rogue Deep State.
They said the Deep State did not exist, then later they admitted that the Deep State existed, but it was a good thing because it stopped Trump.
The Deep State spied on the Trump campaign in 2016 and did so by abusing the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court system.
FISA abuses
FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith lied to the FISA court in order to continue surveilling low-level Trump campaign associate Carter Page.
The FBI knew that Page was working for the CIA but left out that detail in order to justify spying on Trump.
Clinesmith got off with a slap on the wrist.
The Russiagate scandal exposed the FISA process as being used to spy on Americans, even though officials swore up and down that it would never happen.
FISA just came up for reauthorization, and it was initially defeated.
Tucker Carlson championed the defeat of the reauthorization, but he knew that was not a final victory.
He explained, “[House Speaker] Mike Johnson has been working to [reauthorize FISA], and that effort failed today. Because members of Congress heard from their constituents or came to their senses, saw the truth in a dream. Whatever happened, they stopped Mike Johnson from doing that for the moment. So that’s a good thing. And you ought to be celebrating. And even if you didn’t know it was happening and a lot of people didn’t because it got very little media coverage. But of course, this is a temporary victory, like all bad things like that Chlamydia you got in a hot tub in Cabo in college, it will come back. This attempt to spy on you, an American citizen without a warrant because you’ve been politically disobedient. Why will it come back? Because it’s what they really care about.”
Carlson did not have to wait long to be proven right.
Republicans cave
Congress approved the reauthorization of FISA the very next day by a 273-147 vote.
A handful of Republican holdouts wanted the Biggs Amendment attached, which would have required the federal government to obtain warrants.
However, they flipped their vote without the Biggs Amendment; all they got in return was a two-year extension of FISA instead of five years.
After Speaker Johnson served as the tiebreaker to shoot down the Biggs Amendment, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) wrote on Twitter, “This is how the Constitution dies. By a tie vote, the amendment to require a warrant to spy on Americans goes down in flames. This is a sad day for America. The Speaker doesn’t always vote in the House, but he was the tie breaker today. He voted against warrants.”
Prior to becoming Speaker, Johnson was critical of FISA, but something happened after he received the gavel.
Johnson said, “When I was a member of [the House Judiciary Committee], I saw all of the abuses of the FBI – there were terrible abuses, over and over and over. . .And then when I became speaker, I. . .got the confidential briefing from sort of the other perspective on that, to understand the necessity of Section 702 of FISA and how important it is for national security. And it gave me a different perspective.”
So, Speaker Johnson is now fully submerged in the Washington D.C. Swamp.

Trump was not the only victim of FISAa abuses.
Carlson explained, “The NSA broke into my text messages, read them, passed them to news organizations in order to discredit me, and then admitted that they did that. They spied on me and they did it under FISA because I was daring to text with a foreigner outside our borders.”
FISA gives the Deep State considerable power, and it does not want to relinquish it.
