Big Tech is finally being questioned about its control on society.
Unelected tech bros in Silicon Valley are running the country in many ways.
And Google is being sued for telling one infuriating lie about their popular browser.
Google is arguably the most powerful company in world history.
The company has moved far behind its search function, and now serves as the biggest seller of personal online data.
Now Google is being sued for its misleading “incognito mode” in the Chrome browser.
Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai in 2019 was warned that describing the company’s Incognito browsing mode as “private” was problematic, yet it stayed the course because he did not want the feature “under the spotlight,” according to a new court filing…The Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O) unit’s privacy disclosures have generated regulatory and legal scrutiny in recent years amid growing public concerns about online surveillance.
A report from The Washington Post showed that Google Chrome was the worst browser in terms of data privacy.
Chrome’s incognito mode gave users a false sense of comfort when their data was actually being tracked.
“[Pichai] was informed in 2019 as part of a project driven by Twohill that Incognito should not be referred to as ‘private’ because that ran ‘the risk of exacerbating known misconceptions about protections Incognito mode provides.’”
The filing continued, “As part of those discussions, Pichai decided that he ‘didn’t want to put incognito under the spotlight’ and Google continued without addressing those known issues.”
Google has long abandoned its “don’t be evil” slogan.
The company now alters search results in order to adhere to the Left’s tenets of social justice.
Links to conservative outlets often get buried several pages deep despite the article’s relevance to the search topic.
Even images that the Left want buried can be difficult to find when using Google.
The company also participated in a coordinated hit against Twitter competitor Parler.
Google barred Parler from its app store at a time when Parler was the most downloaded app in the world.
Big Tech has become an enforcement arm of the state, and Google is front and center.
Engineer James Damore was fired for submitting a memo – at the prompting of supervisors – that suggested there were differences between men and women.
Leaked videos and whistleblowers at Google have shown that there’s a pervasive left-wing culture at the company that’s seeping into all of its products.
It’s time Google’s practices are fully examined.
