Facebook is planning a huge move to silence conservatives on the platform

Big Tech giants are putting the squeeze on anti-establishment voices.

That puts Republicans directly in the crosshairs.

And Facebook is planning a huge move to silence conservatives on the platform.

Ever since Hillary Clinton’s loss to Donald Trump in 2016, Democrats have been hectoring Facebook to do something about “fake news” on the platform.

Fake news was the supposed excuse for Clinton’s failure.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has largely acquiesced to the demands on the Left, and now the company is taking it a step further.

Facebook intends to actively slow the dissemination of political news on the platform, which undoubtedly will have a greater impact on conservatives.

Axios reports:

“Facebook plans to announce that it will de-emphasize political posts and current events content in the News Feed based on negative user feedback, Axios has learned. It also plans to expand tests to limit the amount of political content that people see in their News Feeds to more countries outside of the U.S. . . . The changes could reduce traffic to some news publishers, particularly companies that post a lot of political content.”

Facebook is in bed with legacy media, so it’s laughable to think that content from The New York Times, The Washington Post, or other corporate-controlled press outlets will be censored.

NPR and other left-wing platforms have already whined about conservative sites finding success with articles shared on Facebook.

This is establishment media’s latest gambit to re-centralize control of the narrative.

Axios continued:

“Moving forward, Facebook will expand some of its current News Feed tests that put less emphasis on certain engagement signals, like the probability that a user will share or comment on a post, in its ranking algorithm . . . These efforts are part of a gradual effort by Facebook to make its users’ experiences less political and contentious.”

Leftists coerced Facebook into dropping Donald Trump from the platform as well as other conservative voices.

This is a strategic purge by Facebook to rein in the Overton Window.

Axios added:

“Facebook has said that political topics only account for a small amount (6%) of the overall content that users engage with, although it’s unclear exactly how the company defines political content.”

Facebook’s move seems like a significant effort to get rid of a measly 6% of content.

Big Tech giants are almost exclusively run by leftists, or people willing to cater to the Left in order to be left alone.

Either way, conservatives lose.
