And Musk’s Twitter Files just unveiled one massive fake news scandal.
Elon Musk’s release of the Twitter Files has been a breath of fresh air.
Right-wingers and counter-narrative liberals had been calling out the Deep State for years, and they finally had the receipts to go with the arguments.
The latest Twitter Files dispatch came from Matt Taibbi who reported on a massive fake news operation run by an apparently bogus think tank, called Hamilton 68.
Supposed bot tracker led to “hundreds of fraudulent headlines and TV news segments”
Taibbi stated that “Hamilton 68 was and is a computerized ‘dashboard’ designed to be used by reporters and academics to measure ‘Russian disinformation.’ It was the brainchild of former FBI agent (and current MSNBC ‘disinformation expert’) Clint Watts, and backed by the German Marshall Fund and the Alliance for Securing Democracy, a bipartisan think-tank. The latter’s advisory panel includes former acting CIA chief Michael Morell, former Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul, former Hillary for America chair John Podesta, and onetime Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol.”
It appears Hamilton 68 was created by a hodgepodge of globalists, neocons, and Deep State spooks and was likely instrumental in convincing enough people to get behind seemingly unlimited funding to prolong the war in Ukraine.
Wittingly, or unwittingly numerous major news outlets used Hamilton 68’s “dashboard” as source to spawn “hundreds of fraudulent headlines and TV news segments,” Taibbi wrote.
Taibbi stated that almost “every major news organization in America is implicated, including NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times and The Washington Post. Mother Jones alone did at least 14 stories pegged to the group’s ‘research.’ Even fact-checking sites like Politifact and Snopes cited Hamilton 68 as a source.”
Even Twitter’s far-Left former Trust and Safety head Yoel Roth – who was one of the top-censors prior to Musks’ takeover of the company – admitted in internal discussions about the dashboard that he thought Hamilton 68’s information was actually disinformation.
Roth wrote internally, “I think we need to just call this out on the bullsh*t it is…Virtually any conclusion drawn from [the dashboard] will take conversations in conservative circles on Twitter and accuse them of being Russian…[Hamilton 68] falsely accuses a bunch of legitimate right-leaning accounts of being Russian bots…[getting] traction around partisan trends, to assert that any right-leaning content is propagated by Russian bots.”

Donald Trump called the fake news media the “enemy of the American people,” but neither he nor anyone else knew just how deep the rot went.
Hamilton 68 was used by all the major media outlets, but according to Taibbi it was simply a smear machine to label people Russian bots or shills.
Fake authoritative sources have been the weapon of choice for the establishment as the internet and social media have democratized the flow of information.
Now anyone with a camera phone can have as much influence as The New York Times, and the legacy institutions despise it.
So it seems, according to the Twitter Files, that the global establishment elites’ answer was setting up operations like Hamilton 68 to discredit anti-establishment voices.
