Democrat Big Tech Billionaires Are Secretly Bankrolling Reporters in Mainstream Media to Shape Coverage

For years George Soros quietly bought journalists at every major network in America.

A new group of left-wing tech billionaires just did the same thing – and left a paper trail.

What they bought inside the mainstream media is worse than anything Soros ever pulled off.

The Liberal Billionaires Funding Reporters Inside NBC News and Bloomberg

Big Tech billionaire Reid Hoffman secretly bankrolled E. Jean Carroll's sham lawsuit against Donald Trump.

The LinkedIn co-founder has also been caught running fake news campaigns modeled on Russian election interference tactics and co-funded Courier Newsroom – a network of fake local news sites that ran seven-figure ad campaigns for Democrats while their articles tracked party press releases almost line by line.

Then there's Dustin Moskovitz – Facebook co-founder and one of the biggest Democrat donors in the country.

Moskovitz and his wife pumped over $650 million into left-wing causes in a single year through their foundation.

He spent years embedding political activists inside the Biden administration.

These are Democrat partisans who treat American institutions as things to be conquered for their political agenda.

And now they're inside your television and computer.

80 Reporters, Full Salaries, No Disclosure Required

Hoffman, Moskovitz, and their allies built a vehicle called the Tarbell Center for AI Journalism.

Tarbell pays the full salaries of reporters placed inside NBC News, Bloomberg, Time, The Guardian, MIT Technology Review, and The Verge.

Not grants. Not fellowships. Full salaries – ranging from $60,000 to $110,000 per reporter.

Eighty journalists. Paid by Democrat partisans. None required to disclose who is signing their paychecks.

The viewer watching NBC News has no idea the reporter on screen is being paid by the man who secretly funded the lawsuit against Donald Trump.

The Bloomberg reader has no idea the byline they just trusted is on the payroll of a man who spent years trying to elect Democrats to the White House.

Tarbell says its donors have no editorial control over their reporters.

Right.

That's why they spend millions of dollars a year – to get absolutely nothing back.

The Mainstream Media Coverage Their Money Bought

The Washington Examiner reviewed what Tarbell's 2025 embedded reporters actually published and found AI safety and regulation dominated their coverage.

Stories about dangers of AI chatbots. Risks of deepfakes. AI energy consumption. AI misinformation.

Every angle advances the political priorities of the Democrat billionaires signing the paychecks.

When OpenAI complained to NBC News that a reporter covering them was being paid by a group mentioned in the very story she wrote, NBC declined to comment.

NBC didn't blink.

Ezra Klein at the New York Times maintains deep financial ties to the same billionaire network and uses his Times column to solicit donations for them directly.

A Times columnist raising money for the people funding reporters at other newsrooms.

NBC News calls it impartial journalism. Everyone else calls it a pipeline.

George Soros Built the Liberal Media Funding Playbook

Soros spent over $52 million funding media operations since 2003.

The Media Research Center documented ties between Soros money and at least 54 prominent journalists across ABC, CBS, NBC, Bloomberg, CNN, NPR, Reuters, and the Washington Post.

Hoffman and Moskovitz looked at that playbook and went bigger.

They embedded their people directly inside the newsrooms and wrote the checks themselves to make sure the coverage followed.

Imagine hiring a defense attorney and then discovering the prosecutor is paying your attorney's law clerks.

NBC News decided that arrangement was perfectly fine – as long as the people signing the checks shared their politics.

The media has always been corrupt. This time they put it in writing.
