Senate Intelligence Committee Transcripts Could Decide the John Brennan Indictment
John Brennan has been under federal criminal investigation since the summer of 2025, when Fox News first reported that prosecutors were targeting the former CIA director over his role in the Russia collusion hoax.
The case centers on Brennan's testimony to Congress – specifically, whether he lied under oath when he denied directing changes to the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment that concluded Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help Trump.
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan referred Brennan to the Justice Department after concluding the former CIA chief "willfully and intentionally" made false statements when he testified before Congress, and former AG Pam Bondi's DOJ stood up a grand jury in Fort Pierce, Florida – Judge Aileen Cannon's courthouse – to pursue charges.
The prosecutors who should be indicting John Brennan right now have one obstacle left – and it isn't John Brennan's lawyers.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senator Tom Cotton have refused for eight months to hand over the transcripts of Brennan's classified interviews with the Senate Intelligence Committee.
The DOJ sent a formal written request in late January 2026, demanding every classified and unclassified record the committee held on Brennan – transcripts, depositions, briefings, written responses – related to the 2017 Russia assessment, the Steele dossier, and the Trump-Russia collusion allegations.
The deadline the DOJ set was February 23.
Thune and Cotton blew past it without a word.
Those transcripts are the missing piece prosecutors need to confirm Brennan lied – and to decide whether to bring charges.
Jordan told Fox News's Hannity earlier this year he thinks the probe is getting serious.
It just got more serious.
John Solomon Names the Republicans Blocking the Brennan Perjury Case
Just the News reporter John Solomon went on Steve Bannon's The War Room and named the Republicans protecting John Brennan.
"I can tell you with 100% certainty that Republicans are obstructing the investigation into weaponization," Solomon said. "There are two Republicans I can name by name, Senator John Thune and Senator Tom Cotton."
Solomon said the fix is simple: one Senate resolution, one floor vote.
Neither has happened.
Solomon also called out a third name – acting Attorney General Todd Blanche – for refusing to take the next logical step.
"Every other time in American history, go back to Iran-Contra, go back to Watergate, the Justice Department subpoenas the Congress," Solomon said.
At Watergate, Special Prosecutor Leon Jaworski subpoenaed Nixon's tapes directly, and the Supreme Court ordered compliance in United States v. Nixon before Nixon resigned.
At Iran-Contra, DOJ investigators moved aggressively on Congress to preserve the chain of evidence.
Blanche has not authorized a subpoena.
Solomon made the implication clear.
"There ought to be a grand jury subpoena sitting in the Senate clerk's office, and there ought to be a court case yesterday compelling this."
House Sends Brennan Transcripts to DOJ While Senate Stalls on Russia Hoax Evidence
The contrast with the House side makes Thune and Cotton's stonewalling harder to explain.
House Republicans voted along party lines in March 2026 to transmit their classified Brennan transcripts to the Justice Department.
Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee objected – claiming they had not been given enough time to review the material.
Republicans voted anyway.
The House transcript is now in the hands of Joe diGenova and the Fort Pierce prosecution team.
The Senate transcript is not.
DiGenova – the longtime Trump ally and former Reagan-era federal prosecutor now overseeing the grand conspiracy probe under Judge Aileen Cannon – has built the Fort Pierce grand jury around a broad conspiracy prosecution: that Brennan, former FBI Director James Comey, and other Obama-era officials ran a coordinated decade-long operation to destroy Donald Trump.
Solomon confirmed there is currently no grand jury subpoena filed with the Senate clerk – a filing that would appear in the Congressional Record the moment it existed.
Thune and Cotton have the ability to end the delay with a single floor vote.
They have refused.
One Senate Vote Could Unlock the Steele Dossier Perjury Case Against John Brennan
Brennan’s lawyers have been bracing for an indictment for months.
Eight months of refusal is not a procedural delay.
Thune and Cotton are choosing, deliberately, not to give Republican prosecutors the evidence they need to bring charges against the man who built the Russian collusion hoax from the inside.
Solomon called it obstruction.
He's right.
