Hakeem Jeffries at the CAP Ideas Conference Said He Wants to Break the Spirit of Trump Voters
Jeffries said it on camera, in front of a room full of Democrat donors and strategists, at the CAP Conference.
"Either MAGA extremists are going to break the country, or we're going to break them. And our goal is to break them. We have to beat them electorally – and then we have to break their spirit."
House Speaker Mike Johnson's office called it "disgustingly violent."
Laura Ingraham called it something simpler: "They want to break Americans."
Trump has run for president three times and his vote total went up each time.
The Democrat response to losing 77 million voters isn’t to offer better ideas.
It’s to stand at a microphone, in front of party donors, and announce that those voters need to have their spirits broken.
Jeffries would become Speaker of the House if Democrats retake the majority in November.
The man one election away from running the House of Representatives just told you exactly how he views the Americans who keep voting against him.
Ingraham noted that when Democrats use the word "reform," there is only one translation: "Remember, when Democrats say reform, that is what they mean – revolution."
Jeffries called for "massive campaign finance reform, massive electoral reform, and yes, massive Supreme Court reform" in the same speech.
Now you know what he meant.
The Salon Article Calling for Nuremberg Trials of Trump Supporters That No Democrat Will Condemn
Two days before Jeffries delivered that speech, Salon published the piece that shows where the rhetoric leads.
It argued that Trump voters – described as "authoritarian foot soldiers" molded by "decades of right-wing media and fundamentalist indoctrination" – cannot simply be voted against.
They must be prosecuted.
The proposed framework: treat the American South the way the Allies treated Nazi leadership at Nuremberg.
Salon acknowledged it would require ex post facto laws – legislation written after the fact to criminalize behavior that was legal when it happened – to make the prosecutions work.
This is a legal framework for putting American voters on trial for the crime of voting the wrong way.
Ingraham told her audience exactly what it reveals: "They view our entire system of laws as corrupt and illegitimate – and yes, that includes our Declaration and our Constitution."
No Democrat has said a word against it.
Kamala Harris spent the same week on a podcast calling for what she described as a "no bad ideas brainstorm" – floating packing the Supreme Court, abolishing the Electoral College, and adding Puerto Rico and Washington D.C. as states to manufacture four permanent Democrat Senate seats.
Ingraham has a name for all of it: "They do not intend to do anything to help Americans, because they want to break Americans."
Three senior Democrats, one week, one direction.
What Democrats Plan to Do to Trump Voters When They Get Power Back
Ingraham has been warning about this for years: "It is not just America they loathe – they loathe each and every one of you, all 77 million Americans who voted for Donald Trump."
Democrats of the 1990s loved America, believed in borders, and were proud of this country's history.
That party is gone.
What replaced it calls your vote "indoctrination," calls your values "authoritarian," and is now – in print, on podcasts, on camera – openly discussing what to do with you once they get power back.
Jeffries said "break their spirit."
Salon said Nuremberg.
Follow that logic to its endpoint and you land exactly where that Salon article goes.
Either Democrat leadership has read it and agrees – in which case they have told you exactly what they plan to do if they ever return to power.
Or they have not read it and have no idea what is being built in their name – in which case they are too incompetent to govern.
Neither answer is acceptable.
And the silence from every single one of them tells you everything you need to know.
