Elon Musk kicked a hornet’s nest when he purchased Twitter for $44 billion.

The establishment did not expect its favorite social media platform to be taken.

Musk infuriated the “woke” mob with one company policy.

One of the main reasons that Elon Musk bought Twitter and took the company private was because of what happened to the satirical site The Babylon Bee.

The company had its Twitter account locked for a joke about Biden Cabinet Official Rachel Levine.

Speech crackdown

The Bee was locked out for running afoul of Twitter’s misgendering policy.

Free speech advocates were aghast at what happened to The Bee and other high-profile accounts for similar reasons, namely Conservative Commentator Charlie Kirk.

Twitter’s old ethos of free speech was restored under Musk, but recently, people were alarmed when the company brought back its misgendering policy.

The policy read, “We will reduce the visibility of posts that purposefully use different pronouns to address someone other than what that person uses for themselves, or that use a previous name that someone no longer goes by as part of their transition. Given the complexity of determining whether such a violation has occurred, we must always hear from the target to determine if a violation has occurred.”

Independent Journalist Tim Pool said that he would be canceling ad buys on the platform as a result of the new policy.

Musk addressed the issue and explained that the change applied to a new law in Brazil.

Musk replied to Pool, “Turns out this was due to a court judgment in Brazil, which is being appealed, but should not apply outside of Brazil.”

Order restored

The Supreme Court of Brazil ruled that homophobia was a crime, but such speech codes do not exist in the United States.

Musk assured Pool that he was “fixing” the problem.

Eventually, Twitter began the misgendering policy with the added clause, “Where required by local laws…”

In other words, the restrictive policy does not apply to countries that do not have speech codes.

Pool commented, “I should always wait because you do always seem to do the right thing or try your best. Massive respect.”

Needless to say, the Left was furious over the issue.

Nobody should be harassed online, but people have to be able to speak freely and communicate in truth on platforms like Twitter, especially since the public square has moved digital.
