DOJ Faces a Moment of Truth With Anthony Fauci and the Clock Is Ticking

Anthony Fauci told America the science was settled and anyone who questioned him was a threat to public health.

Today the Justice Department proved something was buried — and Fauci is the man who buried it.

What DOJ does in the next two weeks is something Fauci has spent five years making sure would never happen.

David Morens Indicted for Hiding the Wuhan Gain of Function Emails

The Justice Department indicted Dr. David Morens Tuesday on charges of conspiracy against the United States, destruction and falsification of federal records, and concealment of documents related to COVID-19 origins — five counts in total.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said: Morens and his co-conspirators "deliberately concealed information and falsified records in an effort to suppress alternative theories regarding the origins of COVID-19."

Morens, 78, faces up to 51 years in prison if convicted.

The indictment names an unnamed co-conspirator matching the description of EcoHealth Alliance president Peter Daszak — the man whose organization funneled grant money from Dr. Anthony Fauci's agency to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for bat coronavirus research.

Morens allegedly routed official communications through his personal Gmail account to keep them out of reach of federal records requests.

He received wine delivered to his Maryland home and promises of meals at Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris, New York, and Washington in exchange for writing a scientific commentary pushing the natural origins narrative.

Fauci Told Congress Under Oath There Was No Gain of Function Research in Wuhan

On May 11, 2021, Anthony Fauci sat before the Senate and told Rand Paul — under oath — that the NIH "has not ever and does not now fund gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology."

Paul pressed him again at a July 2021 hearing, warning Fauci that lying to Congress was a crime.

Fauci jabbed his finger across the dais and fired back: "If anybody's lying here, senator, it is you."

That exchange happened on May 11, 2021 — exactly five years before the perjury statute of limitations expires on May 11, 2026.

In 2024, NIH principal deputy director Lawrence Tabak confessed before a House committee that the federal government did fund gain of function research in Wuhan through EcoHealth Alliance.

"If you're speaking about the generic term, yes, we did," Tabak testified.

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic concluded in its 520-page report that "Dr. Fauci's testimony was, at a minimum, misleading."

The Pardon Problem DOJ Now Has to Solve

Joe Biden pardoned Fauci on his last day in office for any offenses dating back to 2014 — using an autopen machine rather than his own hand.

The House Oversight Committee released a 100-page report in October declaring those autopen pardons invalid, finding that Biden's aides "utilized an ad hoc, inconsistent, and ineffective process" and that Biden himself — in documented cognitive decline — never personally authorized them.

DOJ pardon attorney Ed Martin stated his office "cannot support the validity of AutoPen pardons for individuals such as Anthony Fauci" without further examination.

Rand Paul told the New York Post Tuesday that the only way to settle the question is to force it into court.

"You have to indict somebody who's been pardoned. And I think it's worth a challenge," Paul said.

Paul named two potential charges beyond perjury — destroying federal records and advising others to destroy federal records.

"There was a vast both organized and unorganized conspiracy to cover up the fact that the US government was funding the research that led to the pandemic," Paul said.

The Statute of Limitations on Fauci Perjury Charges Expires May 11

The clock Fauci banked on is now visible to everyone.

Fauci spent the pandemic collecting awards, declaring that criticism of his decisions amounted to criticism of science itself, and dispensing guidance — including the six-foot distancing rule he later admitted had no scientific basis.

Merrick Garland ignored Rand Paul's 2021 prosecution referral.

He ignored the July 2023 referral too.

Biden installed Fauci as chief medical adviser, shielded him throughout, and handed him a pardon on the way out — a pardon a machine may have signed without confirmed presidential authorization.

Todd Blanche, the acting AG who just indicted Morens, now controls the Fauci decision — and Republicans believe Blanche is willing to test whether that autopen pardon survives a federal court challenge.

Paul isn't asking DOJ to open an investigation.

He's asking DOJ to file charges before May 11 — or watch the perjury clock expire and Fauci walk free for good.
