Tucker Carlson was pulled off the air despite having the top-rated show on cable news.
Still, no reason has come from Fox News for Carlson’s ouster.
But another top host may join Tucker Carlson after this jaw-dropping development at Fox News.
Tucker Carlson’s firing from Fox News remains a mystery.
Many believe he was scapegoated after the network settled with Dominion Voting Systems for $787.5 million.
Even though Carlson immediately raised skepticism about Sidney Powell’s vote-switching claims, he was falsely deemed the face of election denial.
Now Fox News could be facing another devastating lawsuit, which could be used as a pretext to throw another host under the bus.
Piggybacking off the Dominion settlement, voting systems company Smartmatic also filed suit against Fox News for defamation for $2.7 billion.
And a Judge just ruled that Smartmatic’s lawsuit can move forward; however, the Judge dismissed Smartmatic’s motion to dismiss Fox News’s counterclaims.
Fox News alleged that Smartmatic’s lawsuit was an attempt to curtail the network’s free speech.
That’s a defense they should have fought already but gave up on it by settling with Dominion.
Fox News already ceded First Amendment ground
New York County Supreme Court Justice David Cohen ruled that the “plaintiffs have sufficiently alleged in their amended complaint that Corp. employees played an affirmative role in the publication of the defamation at issue.”
One host who got in hot water for election claims was Maria Bartiromo, but she kept her job after the Dominion settlement and Carlson did not.
Fox News responded to the ruling with a statement that read, “We will be ready to defend this case surrounding extremely newsworthy events when it goes to trial, likely in 2025. As a report prepared by our financial expert shows, Smartmatic’s damages claims are implausible, disconnected from reality, and on their face intended to chill First Amendment freedoms.”
Look for another head to figuratively roll at Fox News after the elections, if not sooner
After the massive Dominion settlement, Fox News might be more inclined to fight.
However, far-left New York juries are not known for their impartiality, as evidenced by the preposterous verdicts against Donald Trump.
The Democrat-controlled media’s effort to pin vote-switching claims on Carlson was always dishonest.
In December 2020, Carlson said on his Fox News show that Powell “never sent us any evidence, despite a lot of polite requests. When we kept pressing, she got angry and told us to stop contacting her. When we checked with others around the Trump campaign, people in positions of authority, they also told us Powell had never given them any evidence to prove anything she claimed at the press conference. Powell did say that electronic voting is dangerous, and she’s right, but she never demonstrated that a single actual vote was moved illegitimately by software from one candidate to another. Not one. Why are we telling you this? We’re telling you this because it’s true, and in the end, that’s all that matters.”
The Smartmatic case could possibly be used to get rid of another host who has become a nuisance for the Murdochs.
