Anthony Fauci spent five years telling America he had nothing to do with closing schools.
His own diary just proved he was lying the entire time.
And the man Fauci called a complete disgrace just called those diary insults something surprising.
Fauci Diary Shows He Personally Pushed COVID School Closures Then Denied It for Years
Anthony Fauci looked parents in the eye and denied it.
"They always come back and say Fauci was responsible for closing schools," he told ABC News in 2022. "I had nothing to do – I mean, let's get down to the facts."
The facts are now in 1,141 pages of his own handwriting.
On March 15, 2020, Fauci marked the date "BIG DAY!" in red ink in his diary.
That was the day he personally called New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and, in his own words, "convinced him based on what I was saying publicly and my conversation tonight to close the NYC schools."
The same entry noted that California Governor Gavin Newsom's chief of staff told him the governor had decided to close California schools as well – and the reason was "based on my TV appearances today and yesterday."
Six days earlier, on March 9, 2020, Cuomo had called Fauci seeking advice on whether to close schools in the orthodox Jewish section of Westchester County. Fauci's own diary records his answer in three words: "I tell him yes."
Three calls, three school systems shuttered, and years of telling the country he had nothing to do with any of it.
Senator Rand Paul released the 1,141-page diary package ahead of Fauci's Senate testimony – and the entries landed like a bomb.
Ron DeSantis Kept Florida Open While Fauci Pushed COVID Mandates and Called Him Names
While Fauci was orchestrating school closures and cataloging his own press coverage – he wrote "Press still hot and heavy about me. Multiple stories per day, directly or indirectly involving me" – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was doing the opposite.
DeSantis issued an executive order mandating Florida schools stay open for in-person learning and blocked local governments from enforcing mask mandates on their citizens.
He kept beaches open.
Fauci's reaction, documented in August 2021: "Governor DeSantis is a complete disgrace. He is blocking the local authorities from mandating masks in various locations including schools."
Four days before that entry, he had written: "Besides being a total jerk he is causing…people to die in his home state."
Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer read those entries word for word to DeSantis on America's Newsroom – and the governor did not blink.
"I think those are badges of honor to have him attacking me," DeSantis said. "And he was also doing it publicly, Bill."
DeSantis reminded Hemmer that Fauci was publicly attacking Florida for open beaches and Memorial Day gatherings while going "very mute" as George Floyd protests packed city streets across the country.
"To me it was clear pretty early on within probably a couple of months," DeSantis said, "that he was practicing political science rather than evidence-based medicine."
Fauci Pleaded the Fifth More Than 100 Times at Senate Hearing After Diary Release
Fauci invoked his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination more than 100 times before the Senate Homeland Security Committee – the same committee Paul chairs.
The man who once told a skeptical country "I represent science" refused to answer questions under oath, even while shielded by a preemptive pardon Joe Biden's autopen had signed on his way out the door in 2025.
A bureaucrat who privately bragged about shutting down schools in red ink, lied about it publicly, called the one governor who kept kids in classrooms a disgrace, then took the Fifth when forced to answer for it – that is Anthony Fauci's pandemic legacy.
DeSantis kept Florida open, kept kids in school, and the man Fauci spent years attacking is still standing – calling those insults exactly what they were.
