Geraldo Rivera endorsed Kamala Harris and hasn’t looked back since.
This week he sat down across from Bill O’Reilly and demanded Trump get called a liar on camera.
O’Reilly used him to make a point Rivera never saw coming.
Bill O’Reilly on the 2020 Election and Mainstream Media Bias
Bill O’Reilly built a career on Fox News and with his independent media operation on telling audiences what the legacy media refused to.
“77 million people who voted for Donald Trump think that the establishment media is dishonest in this country,” O’Reilly said during an interview with Geraldo Rivera on his podcast.
“So I stepped up and developed a product whereby they can access somebody who isn’t corrupt. Me.”
Rivera nodded along – right up until he didn’t.
Then he demanded a yes-or-no verdict: “Did President Trump lose the 2020 election?”
O’Reilly applied the only standard that matters in a court of law.
No fraud claim had ever been filed in federal court with actual affidavits. Without that record, there is no established legal fact – only competing opinions.
Rivera wasn’t interested in the legal standard. “There’s no evidence that he won the election, because he lost the election, OK? He lost!”
O’Reilly: “You’re entitled to that opinion.”
Rivera pushed harder. He called January 6 anarchy. He said Trump “made liars of the Republican Party.”
O’Reilly didn’t move. “He didn’t do that. That just happened. He clearly said peacefully.”
Rivera: “Come on, Bill.”
O’Reilly: “It’s not a lie. It’s an opinion. There’s a difference between a lie and an opinion. And you got to understand that difference.”
That was the verdict. Rivera never answered it.

Geraldo Rivera Left Fox News and Voted for Kamala Harris
Rivera is the walking illustration of O’Reilly’s point about media corruption.
This is a man who told Trump personally in November 2020 that the election was over – and when Trump didn’t concede fast enough, Rivera declared him an “entitled frat boy,” stopped taking his calls, and eventually posted a public endorsement for Kamala Harris.
Fox News fired him from The Five in 2023. Rivera said he had “cashed their checks for 22 years” and walked out.
The institutional press celebrated. CNN booked him. He now appears regularly to explain why Republicans who question 2020 are dangerous to democracy – the same democracy he invoked while endorsing the candidate who lost by 86 electoral votes.
Geraldo Rivera spent decades telling audiences he was giving them the straight story. Then he voted for the other side and exposed himself as a partisan hack.
Why 77 Million Trump Voters Walked Away From the Mainstream Media
When O’Reilly told Rivera that 77 million Trump voters believe the media is dishonest, Rivera agreed.
He just didn’t realize he was agreeing about himself.
O’Reilly has paid for his own honesty. When he told his premium subscribers in 2020 that federal courts would not accept election fraud allegations without filed evidence, he lost more than a thousand paying members. He said that was the price of doing journalism and moved on.
Rivera took the opposite path – told audiences what felt emotionally satisfying, built a second career around denouncing a man he once called his closest friend in politics, and ended up on CNN demanding loyalty tests from people who still apply an evidence standard.
O’Reilly’s point on We’ll Do It LIVE! had nothing to do with 2020. Rivera screamed “He lost!” loud enough and long enough that he never had to produce a single fact.
That is the legacy media business model. Geraldo Rivera didn’t expose it – he performed it.
Seventy-seven million Americans already knew what they were looking at. O’Reilly just put a face on it.
