AOC Declared War on Apple and Big Tech Over AI

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been running a shadow presidential campaign for months.

Now she just handed Republicans the issue she plans to run on – and it would give Washington control over every tech company in America.

What she told Fox News Digital just revealed exactly what kind of president she intends to be.

AOC Calls for Breaking Up Apple Over AI Chip Shortage and Price Hikes

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told Fox News Digital and made it official.

She wants Congress to use antitrust legislation to break up Apple and every other tech giant she considers "far too big."

"The problem that we have is that these big companies think they are governments," Ocasio-Cortez said. "They want to be governments. They want to have totally unchecked power."

Her stated rationale is Apple CEO Tim Cook's announcement that price increases on MacBooks and iPads – some as high as $200 – are unavoidable.

"Unfortunately, price increases are unavoidable," Cook told the Wall Street Journal. "We're doing our best to mitigate the huge increases that are being passed to us, and we've been trying to shield our customers from the increases, but the situation has become unsustainable."

The reason Apple's costs are climbing has nothing to do with corporate greed.

The AI boom has created a massive shortage of memory and storage chips – the same components that power MacBooks and iPads.

Apple is now competing for a dwindling chip supply against AI data center builders, semiconductor companies, and every other tech firm chasing the same shrinking inventory.

Ocasio-Cortez admitted as much – then blamed the companies for a problem driven by market forces.

"Now your ability to buy laptops, computers, iPads, electronics in general is going to go up, because data centers are sucking up all of our own industrial supply," she said. "In a lot of ways, we are subsidizing the development of a lot of these pieces of these AI data centers."

She also accused AI companies of celebrating job destruction behind closed doors.

"They are sitting in their private investor calls and they are so giddy about all the people they are going to put out of work," Ocasio-Cortez said.

Trump Pursues AI Equity Stake While AOC Demands Apple Antitrust Breakup

AOC's answer is breaking up companies and expanding federal power.

Donald Trump's answer is cutting ordinary Americans in on the profits before AOC's lawyers get anywhere near a courtroom.

The Trump administration has been in discussions with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman about a framework that would give the American public a direct financial stake in AI companies – not regulate them into submission.

"There are concepts where pieces could be given to the American public, where the American public essentially becomes a partner," Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

OpenAI has put forward a proposal for a Public Wealth Fund – an investment structure designed to funnel AI profits back to American households, including those who have never owned a share of stock in their lives.

It's a model the Trump administration has already piloted.

The federal government took a 9.9% equity stake in Intel worth roughly $8.9 billion by converting CHIPS Act grants into ownership shares.

Altman first pitched the AI equity concept to Trump in early 2025, and talks have continued as the administration works out details of a broader arrangement with AI companies.

AOC Is Running for President on Your Wallet

AOC sees Apple's price hike as a campaign issue – and Big Tech is the centerpiece villain of that campaign.

The New York Socialist Democrat has been barnstorming the country for months, rallying voters in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and Montana while stopping short of officially declaring her candidacy.

AI is shaping up to be one of the defining issues of the 2028 race – job displacement, rising prices, data centers driving up energy costs, and a public that still doesn't trust where the technology is headed.

AOC is betting her national profile on opposing it.

Her attack on Apple ignores the basic mechanics of supply and demand driving price increases – and would punish the companies best positioned to keep America competitive against China in the chip race.

Breaking up Apple doesn't produce a single additional memory chip.

It hands government lawyers the power to redraw American industry based on what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decides is "too big."

Trump's equity model turns AI prosperity into a national asset – dividends paid to the Americans building this country, not to the bureaucrats prosecuting it.

In 2028, voters will choose between a candidate who wants to smash what Americans built and a president who made sure they owned a piece of it.
