John Brennan Tells the Deep State to Keep Resisting Trump on MSNBC
MS Now host Nicole Wallace had former CIA Director John Brennan on to discuss what she called Trump's takeover of federal law enforcement.
This is the same anchor who never raised an eyebrow when Merrick Garland approved an armed FBI raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago home.
She asked him: "What still exists in the system to slow that down?"
Brennan answered without hesitation.
"There's still a legion of professionals in the law enforcement environment, Department of Justice, as well as the CIA and other places," he told her.
He described them as the ones "refusing to follow politically motivated prosecutions" and "refusing to support any type of political activities on the part of the Trump administration."
A man under federal criminal investigation for his role in manufacturing a conspiracy against a sitting president just went on cable television and announced that unelected government employees are actively sabotaging the agenda of a president elected by 77 million Americans.
And he called it professionalism.
John Brennan Is Already the Target of a Russiagate Grand Jury
What Nicolle Wallace skipped in her warm introduction: Brennan is currently the subject of a federal criminal investigation.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred Brennan to the FBI for criminal prosecution in July 2025 over his role in the Russia collusion assessment.
Attorney General Pam Bondi personally ordered prosecutors to open a grand jury investigation in August 2025, acting on a criminal referral from DNI Tulsi Gabbard.
The House Judiciary Committee referred Brennan separately in October 2025 for making false statements to Congress about his role in the Trump-Russia probe.
Witnesses before that grand jury were subpoenaed as recently as last month.
This is not a man with clean hands lecturing America about institutional integrity.
This is the architect of the intelligence operation against Trump in 2016 – a man under active federal criminal investigation for what he built – going on television to announce that the machinery is still running.
The Deep State Resistance Has Been Running Since Trump's First Term
During Trump's first term, career officials slow-walked orders, leaked to friendly reporters, and coordinated with outside legal groups to drag policy into court.
Every major network told you Trump was paranoid for saying so.
The New York Times published an anonymous op-ed in 2018 from a "senior official" inside the administration bragging about exactly what Brennan described.
The U.S. Office of Special Counsel had to issue formal guidance prohibiting civil servants from discussing "#Resistance" activities on the job because it was so widespread it qualified as a Hatch Act violation.
Now, in Trump's second term, the man who ran Obama's CIA is on national television confirming all of it – and urging the participants to keep going.
Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of The Charlie Kirk Show, put it plainly on X: "Real rich coming from the very man who politicized the intelligence community against President Trump."
Rep. Derrick Van Orden of Wisconsin was more direct: "Brennan is a communist mole."
While Brennan Brags on TV the DOJ and CIA Purge Is Already Underway
Marcio Rubio has been purging Obama holdovers from the National Security Council and State Department.
Kash Patel has been tearing apart the FBI from the top down.
Gabbard and Ratcliffe have been working through the CIA and NSA together – and Brennan knows it.
That is why he went on MSNBC.
Brennan watched the purge advancing and went on television to tell his people to hold the line.
That is not a defense of democratic norms.
That is a man telling his network to keep fighting while a federal grand jury closes in around him.
Trump has been right about this since day one.
