Washington Commanders Went Woke When a Soros Firm With Epstein Ties Took Over

George Soros spent years paying a PR firm to elect soft-on-crime prosecutors across America.

Now that firm just got caught running the NFL franchise that killed the Redskins name.

What that firm has been doing with Soros's money – and whose name just turned up in the Epstein files – is where this story gets ugly.

How a Soros PR Firm Got Inside the Washington Commanders

When private equity executive Josh Harris purchased the Washington Commanders from the Snyder family in 2023 for $6.05 billion, he brought BerlinRosen with him.

The firm managed his messaging through the entire acquisition and publicly took credit, calling it "the biggest deal in U.S. sports history" and boasting that it shaped the narrative sold directly to Commanders fans.

BerlinRosen is not a neutral communications shop. In 2021, the firm backed the Movement for Black Lives – a Black Lives Matter offshoot that has accused Israel of genocide and demanded a "free Palestine."

The firm also built a PR network called Orchestra that the Washington Free Beacon estimated pulls in roughly $159 million a year, mixing corporate clients like Google and Major League Baseball with hard-left activist funds.

When the Commanders posted a Pride Month "All Are Welcome" graphic to their official channels this June, that did not happen by accident. BerlinRosen controls what the franchise says and how it says it.

The Soros Prosecutors BerlinRosen Helped Put in Office

The firm took Soros money to elect left-wing prosecutors across the country – and those prosecutors left a trail of wreckage.

BerlinRosen-linked efforts helped put Kimberly Gardner in office as St. Louis circuit attorney. Gardner resigned in disgrace in 2023 after she refused to revoke the bond of repeat offender Daniel Riley.

While out on that bond, Riley was speeding and unlicensed when he struck a 17-year-old girl and took both of her legs.

The firm's network also backed Kim Foxx in Chicago – the prosecutor who dropped charges against Empire actor Jussie Smollett after he staged a fake hate crime and blamed it on Trump supporters. Foxx raised the felony retail theft threshold from $300 to $1,000. Prosecutors quit in protest.

In Los Angeles, BerlinRosen's network backed George Gascón, who eliminated cash bail, slashed police budgets, and survived two recall attempts before voters removed him in 2024.

Since 2022, 21 Soros-backed prosecutors have been replaced by tougher-on-crime successors. Commanders fans are just now learning the firm behind those campaigns runs their football team's messaging.

Josh Harris Buried the Washington Redskins Name While BerlinRosen Ran His Messaging

For 87 years, Washington was the Redskins. The name fell in 2020 under corporate sponsor pressure during the George Floyd summer.

When Harris bought the franchise, fans believed the new owner might restore what had been stripped away. Harris encouraged that hope early. Limited partner Magic Johnson publicly raised the possibility of a return.

Then Harris shut it down. In August 2024, he told reporters the Redskins name could not return for "obvious reasons."

In February 2025, after Washington's NFC Championship run, he made it permanent. The Commanders name stays and Harris called it meaningful.

When Josh Harris Turned Up in the Epstein Files

In January 2026, the Department of Justice released millions of pages from the Jeffrey Epstein investigative files. Harris's name appeared.

The records showed he exchanged emails and phone calls with Epstein between 2013 and 2016, and attended a meeting at Epstein's Manhattan home alongside Bill Gates.

BerlinRosen issued the denial. "Josh Harris never had an independent relationship with Jeffrey Epstein," the statement read.

The firm that crafted that denial also boasted – on an internal call later exposed by Project Veritas – that it had "saved democracy" by helping remove Donald Trump from the Colorado ballot in 2024.

Work done through a Soros-backed activist group called Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

The firm that covered the Epstein story, killed the Redskins name, and is now posting Pride content on the Commanders' official channels was never hired by Washington fans. Josh Harris hired them – and he is still paying them.
