Fauci’s Inner Circle Just Handed DOJ a Roadmap to More Prosecutions

Anthony Fauci spent three hours taking the Fifth last month rather than answer Rand Paul's questions about COVID origins.

Now the man who ran Fauci's cover operation just pleaded guilty in federal court – and the plea agreement names exactly who comes next.

What prosecutors buried in the plea agreement's fine print may end Fauci's cover story entirely.

David Morens’ Guilty Plea Reveals the Gmail Scheme That Buried COVID Origins

Dr. David Morens served as Anthony Fauci's senior adviser at NIAID for 16 years. When NIH canceled EcoHealth Alliance's bat coronavirus grant in April 2020 – the same grant that funneled U.S. taxpayer dollars to the Wuhan Institute of Virology – Morens didn't wait to see what happened next.

He moved everything off government servers the same day.

"Please send all replies here To gmail," Morens wrote to his co-conspirators on April 25, 2020, according to the plea agreement's stipulation of facts. "There are things I cant say except [Senior NIAID Official 1] is aware and I have learned that there are ongoing efforts within NIH to steer through this with minimal damage to you."

That message went to two people: Co-Conspirator 1 and Co-Conspirator 2. Prosecutors didn't name them. They didn't have to. House investigators already put Peter Daszak's name on the record in 2024.

Daszak ran EcoHealth Alliance. His organization used the NIH grant as a pass-through to fund gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab. When COVID-19 reached America and the world started asking where it came from, Daszak and Morens started deleting.

Morens admitted in a separate email – which he managed not to delete – exactly how they did it.

"I learned from our FOIA lady here how to make emails disappear after I am FOIA'd but before the search starts," he wrote.

The conspiracy ran from April 2020 through at least June 2023, according to prosecutors.

What Peter Daszak Gave Morens to Keep the EcoHealth Alliance Cover-Up Alive

The stipulation of facts in Morens' deal details what Daszak provided in exchange for Morens' "behind the scenes shenanigans" inside NIH. Two bottles of The Prisoner Red Napa Valley wine arrived with a handwritten note.

"This is the first of what I hope will be a continued series of expressions of gratitude for your advice, support, and behind-the-scenes shenanigans in my battle against your bosses boss, his boss, and the ultimate boss on the hill," Daszak wrote, according to the plea agreement. "It takes courage and commitment to do what you've done, given your job and the vindictive nature of the Administration."

The document also says Daszak promised future meals at high-end restaurants.

The government further identified a scientific commentary Morens wrote arguing COVID-19 emerged from nature – not a lab. That article, the plea agreement states, was produced specifically to benefit EcoHealth and its president.

Wuhan Lab Leak Cover-Up: Why Peter Daszak Has Not Been Charged Yet

As of today, Peter Daszak has not been charged with any crime.

But the plea agreement prosecutors filed this week identifies him as Co-Conspirator 1 in a federal conspiracy – by description specific enough that every outlet covering the story named him within hours.

HHS stripped all federal funding from EcoHealth Alliance and barred Daszak from receiving federal grants for five years. Congress recommended a criminal investigation into both back in 2024.

The House Select Subcommittee flagged Daszak's discrepancies between his closed-door testimony and available evidence. The DOJ took notes.

Co-conspirators in federal plea agreements fall into two categories: those who cooperate and those who get indicted. Morens is now cooperating. He faces sentencing November 12 – and the standard incentive structure in federal cases means prosecutors already know what he's told them about Daszak.

Meanwhile, Fauci sat before Rand Paul's Senate committee on July 29 and invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times. The committee voted 8-5 to hold him in contempt. Paul has referred the matter to the Justice Department.

Biden pardoned Fauci on his way out the door in January 2025. That pardon covers conduct through Biden's last day in office.

It does not cover anything Fauci said – or refused to say – under oath in July 2026.

A British zoologist used American tax dollars to fund research in a lab in Wuhan, China. A federal adviser deleted the evidence. And the man who built the cover story just told federal prosecutors everything he knows.
