Mark Zuckerberg admitted Facebook suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story weeks before the 2020 election.
Big Tech is still manipulating what Americans see.
Now researchers have proof four other tech companies ran the same operation before November.
MRC Study Reveals Media Bias Across Apple News Google News Yahoo and MSN
The Media Research Center tracked every story promoted by the Big Four news aggregators: Apple News, Google News, Yahoo News and Microsoft MSN.
These are the news pages that load automatically when you open your phone.
Apple built its news app into every iPhone by default; Google did the same with Android – and most users have no idea a political filter came standard with it.
58 percent of Americans get their news from at least one of these four apps.
Across all four platforms, 92 percent of promoted stories came from left-wing outlets while conservative outlets received just 17 percent of total promotions.
MRC Vice President Dan Schneider called it "a subliminal form of propaganda."
Apple News Google News Yahoo and MSN All Showed Left Wing Bias Against Conservative Coverage
Apple News posted the worst numbers – 620 top-feed stories promoted in January, and not one came from a conservative outlet, while 440 of those 620 went to left-wing sources.
MRC noted Apple News had gone 96 consecutive days without promoting a single conservative publication.
Google News was nearly as bad: of 487 top stories featured in February, only 11 – a 2.2 percent share – came from conservative publications.
Yahoo News and Microsoft MSN were no different.
NPR – ranked 20th in web traffic nationally – received 155 promotions from Apple and 121 from Google over a six-month span.
The New York Post, ranked in the top 10, received zero Apple promotions.
Breitbart, ranked in the top 35, received zero.
Neither outlet shows up in the news feed on your phone.
As MRC President David Bozell put it, conservative news "gets no love from these guys."
When conservative outlets did appear, MRC found they were lifestyle stories – not the political coverage that shapes how people vote.
Headed into the midterms, it got worse.
A June MRC analysis tracked Republican primary coverage across all four apps and found 80 percent of those stories came from left-wing outlets.
That means Republican voters researching primary candidates were getting information filtered through outlets that have not endorsed a Republican president in decades.
Yahoo did not promote a single conservative article about Republican primaries during that period.
Big Tech Censorship of Conservative News Triggers FTC Warning and Federal Scrutiny
FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson told Apple this year that calling Apple News neutral while running a political filter is a deceptive trade practice under federal law – and that every company doing it faces the same exposure.
Every app in this study made the same promise of neutrality to its users, and none of them kept it.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr backed Ferguson publicly, saying the company "has no right to suppress conservative viewpoints in violation of the FTC Act."
None of the four companies have responded.
The outlets the Big Four consistently push to the top – The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, NPR and USA Today – share one thing in common: not one has endorsed a Republican presidential candidate in the past ten elections.
These four companies are not promoting these outlets because they are popular – they are promoting them because they share the same politics.
AllSides data shows the bias has been growing every year since 2022.
Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt labeled the MRC findings a "bombshell study" – the Trump administration is watching.
Apple, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft made a deliberate choice about what hundreds of millions of Americans read about Republican candidates before a midterm election, and they have been making that choice every morning for years.
The FTC letter means accountability has arrived.
These four companies have been counting on Americans to assume their phone's news feed was always neutral.
It was never neutral.
