A left-wing Indiana mother just found out exactly what that looks like.
Indiana Teen Stands Her Ground at School Fair
Sophia Hunt, president of the TPUSA Club America chapter at Westfield High School in Indiana, was staffing a booth at Rock the Block – a back-to-school event hosted by the school district and its education foundation.
Her chapter was there to tell families about TPUSA's work, hand out red, white and blue bracelets, and make the case for bringing God, family and country back into schools.
A young boy – about 7 years old – walked up and reached for a bracelet.
His mother, Kailly Stanich, dragged him away.
Hunt followed with a simple question: "Hey, are you OK?"
What happened next was caught in Stanich's own social media posts before she deleted her accounts. She admitted she had "flipped the F out" and had been "seeing red."
According to Hunt, Stanich cursed her out in front of a gym full of children, called the students "vile, disgusting human beings," and declared that they were supporting "a racist piece of s—" – meaning President Trump and the late Charlie Kirk.
Hunt said Stanich knocked a bracelet from her hand.
"She then flicks it out of my hand," Hunt told Fox News. "It was soft. I'm not hurt by any means."
Stanich has denied the physical contact and denied screaming. She acknowledged her language was inappropriate.
Both women filed police reports. The school district said no safety incident was reported at the event – but confirmed it reviewed the situation with school personnel and legal counsel and had "taken appropriate steps." It declined to say what those steps were.
Hunt called her principal the morning after the incident and said officials listened and expressed concern.
Whether any formal action followed, she didn't know. Some parents contacted the district separately, asking officials to revoke Stanich's access to future school events.
Westfield Went National and Stanich's Own Posts Told the Story
Hunt's account went national within hours and drew support from some of the most prominent names in conservative politics.
Indiana Republican Lt. Gov. Micah Beckwith told Hunt he was proud of her for "standing her ground with grace and truth after being attacked by a radicalized liberal." TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet called Hunt "exactly the kind of student that makes us all so proud of the work we're doing."
Erika Kirk – Charlie's widow and now TPUSA's CEO – wrote on X: "The spiritual battle rages on, but our students don't back down. They cannot stop what my husband built."
Stanich's defense collapsed under her own words. She insisted she never screamed, never made physical contact, and behaved reasonably throughout.
Her own social media posts – captured before she went private – told a different story. She had described herself as "seeing red" and admitted she had "flipped the F out." Those posts are now part of the police investigation.
Since Charlie Kirk was assassinated at Utah Valley University in September 2025, TPUSA chapters have nearly tripled at California colleges alone. A University of Utah student was arrested after a far-left agitator threatened to shoot him in the neck at a campus tabling event in January.
The hostility isn't random – it's a strategy. Make conservative students feel unwelcome enough and they'll stop showing up.
Sophia Hunt is not stopping.
"I can be afraid at times," she told Fox News. "I'm afraid to walk out of my house sometimes, but I know God is with me."
When conservative students show up with a booth and a stack of bracelets, the left treats it as an act of aggression.
Hunt didn't take the bait.
"I will absolutely stand up for my conservative Christian values, as well as stand up for Turning Point USA, no matter the circumstances," she told Fox News.
Stanich is now receiving death threats online – which Hunt unequivocally condemned.
"No one deserves death threats," Hunt said. "No one deserves to have any sort of threat put on their life for any political reason. I want this lady to have peace. I want her to be a happy human being, and I want her son to grow up in a great home."
Charlie Kirk spent a decade teaching students to fight with grace instead of fury. Sophia Hunt, at 17, just showed what that actually looks like.
