Indiana School Counselor Exposed the Woke Scheme Schools Have Been Running on Parents for Years

A 37-year school counselor found out what her Indiana district was doing to families behind closed doors.

She told the truth about it and they fired her on the spot.

What they were doing to your grandchildren will make your blood boil.

The Gender Support Plan That Kept Parents in the Dark

In August 2021, South Madison Community School Corporation in central Indiana rolled out something called a "Gender Support Plan."

The plan let students pick new names and pronouns.

It didn’t require anyone to tell their parents.

In some cases, it required employees to actively hide the changes from parents.

Kathy McCord had spent 37 years as a school counselor because she loved kids.

She told a local journalist the truth about what the district was doing.

The school board fired her for it.

Three years of federal litigation followed.

Then, with the remaining claims about to go in front of a jury, South Madison wrote Kathy McCord a $200,000 check.

Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Vincent Wagner said: "Lying to and hiding information from parents violates their constitutional rights. And it can send struggling children down a one-way path to irreversible harm."

School Counselors Are Getting Fired Across the Country for Telling Parents the Truth

Nearly six thousand.

That's how many government schools Justice Samuel Alito says have active policies designed to keep parents in the dark about their own children's gender transitions.

He said it in a formal written statement – joined by Justices Thomas and Gorsuch – while the Supreme Court considered a Massachusetts case where school officials were using a male name for an 11-year-old girl, steering her toward boys' bathrooms, and keeping her parents completely in the dark while using her legal name and pronouns whenever mom or dad was in the room.

South Madison is one school in one Indiana county.

Nearly six thousand is a machine.

The settlements are piling up to prove it.

In November 2025, an Oregon district paid $650,000 after firing an assistant principal and a science teacher for speaking out on gender policy.

Two months ago, California's Jurupa Unified paid $360,000 to a Christian teacher they terminated for refusing to hide student transitions from families.

Now Indiana: $200,000.

Three settlements in six months.

$1.2 million in taxpayer money – paid not because the schools admitted wrongdoing, but because they knew what a jury would do.

Trump and the Supreme Court Are Stripping Schools of the Power to Hide This from Parents

This didn't start with Kathy McCord, and it doesn't end with South Madison.

On January 29, 2025, President Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to pull funding from any government school that secretly transitions a child without parental knowledge.

The Education Department followed that up in March 2025 with formal guidance to every federally funded school in America: concealing a student's gender identity changes from parents is a federal FERPA violation.

Since then, the DOE has opened investigations into California, Washington state, Maine, and four Kansas school districts.

California's attorney general sued the Trump administration to stop it.

A state attorney general went to court to protect schools' ability to hide your child's secret gender transition from you.

Indiana law changed the moment ADF filed McCord's lawsuit – the state now requires South Madison and every other district to notify parents when a child requests a name or pronoun change.

McCord said it herself: "South Madison can no longer force other educators to lie and keep secrets about children from their own parents."

The Machine Is Breaking

School boards built this system believing parents would never find out, or never fight back, or never find lawyers willing to take the cases to court.

Alliance Defending Freedom has now won or settled cases in Indiana, Oregon, and California – and they've made clear they're using every outcome to encourage the next educator who refuses to lie.

The radical Left spent four years embedding these policies into government schools across the country while parents were focused on COVID learning loss and inflation.

They got cocky.

Now they're paying for it – $1.2 million and climbing – in courtrooms full of judges and juries who have kids and grandkids in those schools.

Kathy McCord lost her job.

She got it back in the only way that matters: the school that fired her is now legally required to do what she was fired for asking them to do in the first place.
