Trump handed Democrats one crushing defeat the GOP has worked for since Reagan

The Left’s propaganda machine just suffered a devastating blow.

Republicans have been fighting this battle for over four decades without success.

And Trump handed Democrats one crushing defeat the GOP has worked for since Reagan.

Congress delivers knockout blow to NPR and PBS

For over 40 years, Republicans have been fighting to end the taxpayer funding of liberal propaganda outlets like NPR and PBS.

President Ronald Reagan tried to defund NPR back in the 1980s but couldn’t get it across the finish line.

Now, President Donald Trump has accomplished what Reagan couldn’t – and it’s about time.

Both houses of Congress approved Trump’s request to claw back $9 billion in funding for public broadcasting and foreign aid early Friday.

The package cancels about $1.1 billion for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which represents the full amount it’s due to receive during the next two budget years.¹

Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) told Newsmax that she’s been working on this issue for years and couldn’t be happier with the result.

“For years, I’ve had legislation that would cut some of the spending for public broadcast,” Blackburn said. “Ronald Reagan tried to defund NPR. That’s how long Republicans have worked on this. And we finally got it done under President Trump.”²

This is the first time in decades that a president has successfully submitted a rescissions request to Congress.

The White House argued the public media system is politically biased and an unnecessary expense – and they’re absolutely right.

NPR and PBS can survive without taxpayer handouts

Senator Blackburn pointed out something that should be obvious to everyone: NPR and PBS are nonprofits that bring in donations and sell sponsorships.

“They sell sponsorships,” Blackburn explained. “If the community wants them, the community will support them. We do not need to be using taxpayer dollars to fund these outlets.”³

She’s hit the nail on the head.

Why should hardworking American taxpayers be forced to subsidize liberal media outlets that constantly attack conservative values and promote the Democrat agenda?

NPR and PBS have been masquerading as “public” broadcasting for decades while pushing left-wing talking points and giving platforms to anti-Trump voices.

If these outlets are so valuable and popular, they should be able to survive on their own merit in the free market.

The fact that they’ve been dependent on government funding for so long proves they can’t compete with real news outlets that actually serve their audiences.

Trump succeeds where Reagan couldn’t

This victory represents something much bigger than just cutting government spending.

It’s about finally breaking the stranglehold that liberal elites have had on taxpayer-funded media for generations.

Reagan understood back in the 1980s that American taxpayers shouldn’t be forced to fund outlets that work against their interests.

But the Washington, D.C. establishment fought him every step of the way.

Now, Trump has the political muscle and the mandate from the American people to get things done that previous Republican presidents could only dream about.

The vote also cut $8 billion for a variety of foreign aid programs, many designed to help countries where drought, disease, and political unrest endure.⁴

This is exactly the kind of America First approach that Trump promised during his campaign.

Instead of sending billions overseas while American communities struggle, Trump is putting American taxpayers first.

The Democrat Party and their media allies are going to be furious about this vote.

They’ve relied on taxpayer funding to prop up their propaganda outlets for decades.

But those days are over.

American taxpayers deserve better than being forced to subsidize liberal media that constantly attacks their values and their President.

Reagan would be proud to see his vision finally become reality under Trump’s leadership.

The swamp just got a little bit smaller, and that’s exactly what the American people voted for.
