One liberal writer just gave Democrats advice about MAGA relatives that will make your blood boil

The Left’s war on traditional family values just reached a shocking new low.

A New York Magazine writer is now encouraging fellow Democrats to completely abandon their own relatives.

And one liberal writer just gave Democrats advice about MAGA relatives that will make your blood boil.

Liberal writer declares war on family unity

New York Magazine’s Sarah Jones has crossed a line that should horrify every American who values family bonds.¹

In a disturbing piece that reads like a manual for destroying families, Jones openly encourages progressives to "cut off" relatives who support President Donald Trump.

"Sometimes the act of knowing a person leaves you with no choice but to move on without them," Jones wrote with chilling detachment.²

But it gets worse.

Jones didn’t stop at generic advice about political disagreements.

She got specific about the kind of intolerance she expects from her fellow leftists.

"If my parents liked Alligator Alcatraz, I’d no longer speak to them," Jones declared.³

"If they were rude to my LGBT friends, I’d block their numbers."

This isn’t about protecting anyone from actual harm.

This is about ideological purity tests that would make Stalin proud.

The radical Left’s assault on American families accelerates

Jones was responding to former Obama speechwriter David Litt, who had the audacity to suggest Democrats might try talking to their Republican relatives instead of shunning them.⁴

Litt wrote about connecting with his "anti-Covid vaccine, Joe Rogan loving brother-in-law" over their shared love of surfing after previously keeping his distance.

But Jones dismissed this reasonable approach as "so naïve it borders on malice."

Think about that for a moment.

A liberal writer just called basic human decency toward family members "malicious."

The marketing firm The Harris Poll found that half of American adults are estranged from a relative, with one in five citing political differences as the reason.⁵

This family destruction isn’t happening by accident.

It’s being actively encouraged by radical leftist voices like Jones.

"Should you cut off your MAGA relatives? That’s up to you, in the end, but I think it’s a perfectly reasonable choice to make," Jones posted on social media.⁶

Democrats embrace the politics of personal destruction

Jones isn’t some fringe blogger writing from her parents’ basement.

She’s a writer for New York Magazine, one of the most influential liberal publications in the country.

And she’s not alone in pushing this family-destroying agenda.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid previously interviewed Yale psychiatrist Dr. Amanda Calhoun, who gave Democrats permission to "disown family members who voted for Trump."⁷

"There is a societal norm that if somebody is your family that they are entitled to your time and I think the answer is absolutely not," Calhoun said during Reid’s show.

What we’re witnessing here goes way beyond politics – this is an assault on the family itself.

Think about it. Your grandparents probably argued about FDR over Sunday dinner, but they still showed up for each other when it mattered.

Today’s Left? They want you to ghost your own relatives if they voted wrong.

Americans reject the Left’s family destruction agenda

Social media users didn’t hold back in their response to Jones’s toxic advice.

"Seriously, the only one that would be hurt over time in this situation is you," one person wrote.⁸

"Putting politics before family and not being able to take the high road says that you’re unable to be neutral and keep the peace. Just agree to not talk politics and be civil with friends and family."

Another user cut straight to the heart of the matter: "Dear Sarah, LMAO, how arrogant! You keep cutting people off, soon you will have no one. Good Luck!"

The response reveals something the Left doesn’t want to admit.

Here’s the thing most Democrats won’t admit – even they know Jones crossed a line.

Look at those social media responses. Regular people, probably plenty of them Democrats, telling Jones she’s lost her mind.

They get it. You don’t cut off family because they watch different news channels.

Families survive disagreements. Hell, they’re stronger because of them sometimes.

"Sounds like they are better off without you," a third commenter observed.⁹

"Disregard everything they ever did for you in a snap, what a great person you must be."

The broader strategy behind family destruction

This isn’t really about protecting Democrats from uncomfortable conversations at Thanksgiving dinner.

It’s about isolating Americans from anyone who might challenge the Left’s increasingly radical worldview.

When you cut off family members who disagree with you politically, you eliminate voices that might make you question your assumptions.

You create an echo chamber where only approved opinions are allowed.

This is exactly what authoritarian movements have always done.

They separate people from their natural support networks and replace them with ideological communities that demand total conformity.

Jones even admits she comes "from a conservative family and a conservative place" but has chosen to "nurture my pain like it’s a small pet."¹⁰

Rather than working through disagreements or finding common ground, she’s chosen to weaponize her hurt feelings.

The stakes couldn’t be higher for American families

The trend Jones is encouraging threatens the very fabric of American society.

Strong families have always been the foundation of strong communities and a strong nation.

When political movements start attacking that foundation, they’re attacking America itself.

Trump’s landslide victory really sent these people over the edge, didn’t it?

Can’t beat him at the polls, so now they’re going after your Thanksgiving table.

The strategy’s pretty obvious when you think about it. Isolate people from anyone who might make them question the narrative.

Cut off your Trump-supporting uncle? Now you only hear one side of every story.

It’s textbook authoritarian stuff – separate people from their natural support systems.

So what’s it gonna be, America?

Are we really going to let some magazine writer in Manhattan tell us to ditch our own relatives?

Most folks I know – and I’m talking about people across the political spectrum – they’d laugh Jones right out of the room.

Your family was there before politics, and they’ll be there after. Anyone telling you different? Well, maybe they’re the ones you should be cutting off.

That’s not extremism talking. That’s just common sense – something that used to be a lot more common before writers like Sarah Jones decided family loyalty was a political position.
