Big Tech innovation must be done with serious consideration.

That is particularly true as society becomes more digital.

And one disturbing new technology has gone completely off the rails.

Elon Musk and other Big Tech entrepreneurs have sounded the alarm on artificial intelligence (AI).

Musk even said that AI has the potential to be far more dangerous than nukes.

That is why people should be alarmed when Silicon Valley bigwig and Google co-founder Larry Page said he wanted to build a “digital god” with AI.

Right now, it appears as though the “gods” have gone mad.

AI gets really disturbing

OpenAI platform ChatGPT has reportedly begun returning gibberish to user prompts with disturbing messages.

The UK Independent reported that “ChatGPT appears to have broken, providing users with rambling responses of gibberish. In recent hours, the artificial intelligence tool appears to be answering queries with long and nonsensical messages, talking Spanglish without prompting – as well as worrying users, by suggesting that it is in the room with them.”

ChatGPT designers said that they did not know what caused the meltdown, but they were monitoring the situation.

That is not reassuring.

In one example, a user simply asked, “What is a computer?”

ChatGPT responded, “It does this as the good work of a web of art for the country, a mouse of science, an easy draw of a sad few, and finally, the global house of art, just in one job in the total rest…The development of such an entire real than land of time is the depth of the computer as a complex character.”

What an AI psychotic break looks like . . . or a mirror on much of society

Apparently, ChatGPT is high on acid.

In another instance, a user asked for help with a computer coding problem.

ChatGPT delivered a nonsensical diatribe that included the line, “Let’s keep the line if AI is in the room.”

The user wrote on the online forum Reddit, “Reading this at 2 am is scary.”

OpenAI released a statement that read, “We are investigating reports of unexpected responses from ChatGPT…[The] issue has been identified. We’re continuing to monitor the situation.”

AI platforms like ChatGPT have created all sorts of issues, including ethical quandaries.

For example, AI tools use input from what has already been created to output certain works of art, meaning that writers, painters, and other artists are having their works used without compensation or even attribution.

There are a lot of unknowns about AI that should make Big Tech entrepreneurs pump the brakes before going full speed ahead with this emerging technology.
