Merrick Garland held in contempt for cover-up to protect Joe Biden
Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into President Joe Biden for stealing classified documents brought concerns about his mental decline back to the forefront.
Democrats and their media allies claim that behind closed doors Biden is as sharp as a tack despite what everyone can see and hear.
Hur’s report said that he wouldn’t charge Biden because he’s an old man with a poor memory that no jury would convict.
Biden in his two-day interview with Hur last October forgot what years he was Vice President and what year his son, Beau Biden, died.
Audio recordings of this interview exist but the Justice Department has refused to hand them over to House Republicans.
Justice Department officials admitted that the tapes would be politically damaging to the President and that that was grounds to justify not turning them over.
The transcript of Biden’s interview with Hur is already public but the document is full of parts the transcript says are “inaudible.”
Biden officials are terrified of whatever is on those tapes confirming the worst about Biden’s mental decline.
Attorney General Merrick Garland refused to turn over the audio recordings after a subpoena.
That’s why the House of Representatives voted to hold him in criminal contempt of Congress for refusing to hand them over.
Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro was convicted of contempt of Congress and sentenced to federal prison.
But Garland is going to shut down the contempt resolution sent to the Justice Department.
Now one House Republican is getting creative to hold him accountable.
A House Republican will force a vote to arrest Merrick Garland
Representative Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) isn’t going to let Garland get away with burying the contempt resolution.
If as expected the Justice Department doesn’t act, she wants to force the House to vote on an “inherent contempt” resolution against Garland.
“As of right now, we fully intend to bring it,” Luna stated. “I don’t really have much faith in the Department of Justice. And I don’t think the American people do either. But we are trying to bring back a level playing field and show that, you know, there should be accountability all the way up to the top.”
A normal contempt resolution is transmitted to the Justice Department to take action.
But an inherent contempt resolution would authorize the House sergeant at arms to arrest Garland if it passes.
“If the DOJ won’t do their jobs, we’re going to do it for them,” Luna said.
She’s working on building support for it with her colleagues.
“Inherent contempt of Congress hasn’t been done since early 1900s. And before that, it was a pretty common practice,” Luna explained.
She could get the resolution deemed as privileged which would force House Leadership to take action on it within two days.
“I think that when you explain to people what inherent contempt of Congress is and when they see that subpoenas are being ignored, and that there seems to be a two-tiered justice system – which we’re seeing nationally, every single person…is realizing that – I think that they will understand,” Luna remarked.
House Republicans have a chance to hold Merrick Garland accountable for trying to hide what could be the smoking gun that removes Joe Biden from power.
