Socialists Democrats promised a third Trump impeachment the moment they win back the House.
Then Jon Stewart went on his own podcast and blindsided his own party.
What the Left's most trusted comedian just told Democrats about their impeachment plans has his own fans demanding answers.
Democrats Are Promising a Third Trump Impeachment and Even Their Own Party Is Turning Against Them
On the latest episode of The Weekly Show, liberal comedian Jon Stewart was asked directly whether Democrats should pursue impeachment if they retake Congress next month.
"I don't want to see a f—-ing five-act performative play of House hearings," Stewart said.
He said he didn't want to watch "everybody having the opportunity to pantomime accountability because you know they're actually not going to bring it."
Stewart pointed to January 6th.
"If you couldn't bring accountability to Jan. 6 in two years, what confidence do any of us have that you're going to be able to untangle Eric and Don's drone company?" he said.
"There is not a person of that power and privilege who can't figure out how to run out the clock on a two-year investigation."
Stewart didn't learn that from Republicans. He spent twenty years on The Daily Show mocking conservatives and handing Democrats their best attack lines. When he calls his own party's plans fake theater, they have nowhere to run.
Stewart said he wants Democrats to "govern" – to focus on problems "actually killing people right now."
Republican strategist Lauryn Killian told Fox News Digital that voters "will expect them to actually govern, not spend two years trying to undo the last election."
Y. David Scharf of the law firm Morrison Cohen described the entire impeachment push as "political theater."
Current House projections show Democrats winning 215 seats to Republicans' 201 – meaning they'd need three of nineteen remaining toss-up races to clinch a majority.
Trump answered the impeachment question from the Oval Office.
"I could have done very bad things to Hillary Clinton, I could have done very, very bad things to Joe Biden, I could have done very bad things to Barack Hussein Obama," he told Fox News' Peter Doocy.
He said he held back because "you have to treat the office of the presidency with respect."
"Then I found out that they impeached me twice," Trump said.
Democrats are this close to the majority they've begged for – and they're already planning to throw it away.
Carville, Emanuel, and Stewart All Agree: Democrats Impeaching Trump Is Pure Political Theater
Stewart isn't alone.
James Carville – the strategist who helped elect Bill Clinton and has spent thirty years running circles around Republicans – told his "Politics War Room" podcast that impeachment would be a waste of time.
His co-host Al Hunt urged Democrats to "investigate, investigate, investigate" but warned against "a mission that isn't going to succeed."
Then Rahm Emanuel – former Chicago Mayor and White House Chief of Staff under Obama – went on Meet the Press and announced that impeachment "is not going anywhere" and would become "a food fight."
Emanuel told Democrats to pass an ethics bill and actually govern.
The people who built the modern Democratic Party can't believe what they're watching – and the progressives don't care.
Rep. Yassamin Ansari of Arizona told Axios that if Democrats retake the House, "the push for impeachment is going to be overwhelming."
Rep. Jamie Raskin of Maryland – the man who would lead impeachment proceedings as top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee – said there's "definitely a rising clamor for impeachment" and promised he'd be "moving very quickly" the moment Democrats take power.
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has refused to rule it out, telling NBC that Democrats haven't "ruled anything in or ruled anything out."
This is a party at war with itself – and the clowns are winning.
Democrats Impeaching Trump a Third Time Would End Exactly Like the First Two
Democrats don't want to talk about 1998.
They should.
That year, Republicans had a wounded president, a sex scandal, and a special counsel's report laying out eleven potential grounds for impeachment.
They impeached Bill Clinton anyway.
They lost five House seats in the midterms when analysts were predicting gains of forty or more.
Exit polls showed 63 percent of American voters opposed impeachment.
Newt Gingrich – who predicted a massive Republican wave – resigned as Speaker weeks later.
The lesson from 1998 is the same lesson Stewart, Carville, and Emanuel are screaming right now: impeaching a president your base hates, when the public doesn't want it, makes your opponent look like a victim and makes you look unhinged.
Republicans still control the Senate – and there is no path to the 67 votes required to remove Trump from office.
A third Trump impeachment ends exactly like the first two: Trump in the White House, his base more energized than ever, and Democrats holding nothing but press releases and a shrinking majority going into 2028.
Stewart, Carville, and Emanuel all see exactly where this ends. AOC and Jamie Raskin have decided they don't care.
Trump is watching all of it, and he couldn't be more pleased.
