Biden officials caught red-handed covering up systematic discrimination
A bombshell investigation just exposed one of the most disturbing scandals of the Biden administration.
For years, federal disaster relief workers systematically bypassed homes flying Trump flags or displaying conservative signs – leaving Americans in crisis without help based purely on their politics.
And Biden’s FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell knew about it the whole time but covered it up while testifying to Congress under oath.
The Department of Homeland Security released a damning 22-page internal investigation on Tuesday revealing FEMA employees discriminated against Trump supporters going back to Hurricane Ida in 2021 – just months after Biden took office.¹
The investigation uncovered evidence spanning eight states between 2021 and 2024, with FEMA workers documenting citizens’ political beliefs in government databases and then deliberately skipping their homes during disaster relief efforts.²
"The federal government was withholding aid against Americans in crisis based on their political beliefs – this should horrify every American, regardless of political persuasion," Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said.³
The lie that blew up in Criswell’s face
When whistleblowers first exposed FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington for ordering workers to avoid Trump supporters’ homes after Hurricane Milton in Florida last year, Criswell fired Washington and rushed to Congress to contain the damage.⁴
During testimony to the House Oversight Committee on November 19, 2024, Criswell swore under oath that Washington acted alone.⁵
"I do not believe there is a widespread cultural problem at FEMA," Criswell told lawmakers.⁶
She claimed repeatedly it was an "isolated incident" and said "it has not gone beyond what this one employee did."⁷
But the Trump administration’s investigation just proved Criswell either lied under oath or deliberately refused to investigate what was really happening inside her agency during the entire Biden presidency.
The evidence was sitting in FEMA’s own computer systems the whole time.
DHS investigators pulled screenshots from FEMA’s internal database showing workers had been tracking Trump supporters for years and systematically denying them federal disaster assistance.⁸
From September 2021 in Pennsylvania after Hurricane Ida: "A lot of explicit political flags, posters, etc. ‘F— Joe Biden’ ‘MAGA 2024’ ‘Joe Biden Sucks’ ‘Trump 2024’ We do not recommend anyone visiting this location."⁹
From October 2021 in Louisiana: "Homeowner had sign stated this is trump country."¹⁰
From October 2024 in Florida: "Trump sign, no contact per leadership."¹¹
From November 2024: "There was a political flyer so I didn’t leave a FEMA brochure."¹²
Federal employees illegally spied on conservatives for years
The investigation revealed FEMA violated the Privacy Act of 1974 by collecting and storing information about disaster survivors’ political beliefs in federal databases.¹³
Workers documented Trump campaign signs, NRA signs, Second Amendment flags, and other political displays – then used that information to decide who got help and who didn’t.¹⁴
Picture what this looked like on the ground. Your home just got destroyed by a hurricane. You’re elderly, your power is out, you have no water, and you’re wondering how you’ll rebuild. FEMA workers knock on your neighbor’s door and hand them applications for federal assistance. Then they look at your house, see your American flag and Trump yard sign, make a note in their government tablet, and walk right past without stopping.
Meanwhile, a federal employee just logged into a database that you’re a "bitter gun owner clinging to religion" or that your property displays "explicit political flags" supporting Trump.¹⁵
One North Carolina entry from 2024 warned other FEMA workers that "Republicans on the grounds with guns so please be careful."¹⁶
"The entries within the tool clearly showed that canvassers included information related to political party affiliation, campaign signs, and other information that may be considered First Amendment-protected freedom of expression," the report stated.¹⁷
The Privacy Act makes it illegal for federal agencies to maintain records describing how citizens exercise their First Amendment rights unless explicitly authorized.
FEMA had no such authorization.
These weren’t safety concerns – they were political hit lists maintained in government computers to target conservatives.
The discrimination started immediately under Biden
Hurricane Ida devastated Louisiana in August 2021, less than seven months into Biden’s presidency.¹⁷
That’s when the documented discrimination began.
For the next three years, FEMA employees across the country followed the same playbook: identify conservative homes, document their political beliefs in federal databases, and skip them during disaster relief canvassing.¹⁸
The investigation found instances in Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina, and four other states.¹⁹
And the whole time, Biden’s FEMA Administrator insisted everything was fine.
When Washington got caught in Florida and claimed this was standard practice across multiple states, Criswell dismissed it as one rogue employee.²⁰
The investigation proves Washington was telling the truth and Criswell was covering it up.
Systemic corruption, not isolated incidents
The DHS report specifically stated the discrimination "stemmed from systemic issues in FEMA policies, processes and practices."²¹
This wasn’t about a few bad apples.
The system itself enabled and encouraged political discrimination against conservatives seeking federal disaster assistance.
FEMA’s door-to-door survey system gave workers complete discretion over who to visit and who to skip – with virtually no oversight or accountability.²²
The internal database allowed workers to input whatever notes they wanted about homeowners, including their political beliefs, with no mechanism to flag or prevent discrimination.²³
And FEMA leadership under Biden created a culture where targeting Trump supporters was accepted practice that multiple teams across multiple states followed for years.²⁴
Secretary Noem immediately shut down the discriminatory door-to-door system and referred the case to both the Department of Justice for potential criminal prosecution and the DHS Inspector General for further investigation.²⁵
What this reveals about Biden’s bureaucracy
The FEMA scandal exposes how deeply the Biden administration weaponized federal agencies against conservatives.
This wasn’t happening at the IRS or FBI – agencies critics expect to be politicized.
This was FEMA, the agency that’s supposed to help Americans during their most vulnerable moments after hurricanes, floods, and disasters.
And for three straight years, Biden officials ran a systematic political operation inside FEMA to punish Trump supporters by denying them federal disaster assistance they were legally entitled to receive.
Think about what this means for the elderly veteran in Georgia who was told to take down his Trump signs if he wanted FEMA to come back and help him.²⁶ Or the families in Florida who watched their neighbors get federal assistance while FEMA workers documented "Trump sign, no contact per leadership" and moved on.
These weren’t people asking for special treatment. They were Americans whose homes got destroyed asking for the same help the federal government gave everyone else. The only difference was a yard sign supporting the President Democrats spent four years trying to destroy.
Criswell testified to Congress five months ago that this was an isolated incident from one rogue supervisor.
She either knew that was false when she said it under oath, or she deliberately avoided investigating what her own employees were doing for years.
Either way, she lied to Congress about systematic political discrimination that violated federal law and left Americans in crisis without help based on who they voted for.
The Trump administration is now cleaning out the rot Biden left behind.
But Americans should never forget what happened. When hurricanes devastated the Southeast, when floods destroyed communities, when disasters struck during the Biden years – federal workers were checking your political beliefs before deciding whether you deserved help. They were maintaining secret lists of Trump supporters in government databases. And Biden’s FEMA chief covered it up while testifying under oath to Congress.
