Democrats’ lawfare against Trump just took one infuriating left turn

Democrats have smeared Donald Trump as the Boogeyman.

They seem to believe any underhanded tactic that could stop or hinder him is justified.

And Democrats’ lawfare against Trump just took one infuriating left turn.

Democrats are not confident they can defeat Donald Trump at the polls in 2024.

That is why they have unleashed an unprecedented level of lawfare against him.

Perhaps the most outrageous case occurred in New York, where Attorney General Letitia James promised to “get Trump” during her campaign.

James could not find a crime to prosecute, so she instead opted to sue Trump for fraud, claiming that he inflated the value of his properties to get bank loans.

However, there was no injured party because Trump paid back the loans with interest.

The bank even testified during the fraud trial that it would like to do business with Trump again.

That did not stop Democrat Judge Arthur Engoron from slapping Trump with a ridiculous $355 million fine.

Worse yet, Trump has to pay the fine before he can even appeal the decision.

Now, James is saying that she will attempt to seize Trump’s properties if he does not pay the fine.

Putting every New Yorkers house at risk

James said, “If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets…We are prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers, and yes, I look at 40 Wall Street each and every day.”

Even some on the Left have noted that James crossed a line with this obvious political persecution of Trump.

James countered by saying, “Financial frauds are not victimless crimes. He engaged in this massive amount of fraud. It wasn’t just a simple mistake, a slight oversight, the variations are wildly exaggerated, and the extent of the fraud was staggering…If average New Yorkers went into a bank and submitted false documents, the government would throw the book at them, and the same should be true for former presidents.”

This is preposterous.

Who was the victim

Banks do their own assessments to determine how much to lend to a prospective borrower, if at all.

In this case, the bank was happy with the terms of the loan.

Liberal Legal Analyst Alan Dershowitz argued that James violated a code of ethics.

Dershowitz told Sean Hannity, “She ought to be brought up before the bar. You should not have an elected prosecutor campaigning on the promise to get a particular defendant. Now if she didn’t get him, she would lose the election. This is a variation of Stalin and [Lavrentiy] Beria back in the 1930s when the head of the KGB says to Stalin, ‘Show me the man, I’ll find you the crime.’ This is — show me the man, we know who it is. She told us who it was, Donald Trump, and we’ll find you the fraud even though there was no harm.”

James just told every single business owner in New York that it is open season on them if they do not fall in line politically.
