Democrats spent years accusing Russia of using fake Facebook pages to manipulate American voters.
Now an investigation has exposed a Facebook network of 273 pages built to flip Republican House seats.
And there is a very good chance one of these pages is already in your feed.
Real Voices Media: The Democrat Facebook Astroturf Network
Real Voices Media tells visitors it is "not another news organization or political group." That is the sales pitch – the actual operation looks nothing like it.
According to Meta's advertising records, Real Voices Media controls 273 Facebook pages with names like A Fat Girls Journey, Pour ME a Beer, Keto Help for Crazy Busy Women, Maine Hiking Network, and The Boozy Buckeye.
People follow those pages for diet tips, drink recommendations, parenting advice, and trail maps.
What they don't know is that those pages have been pulled into a coordinated House-flipping operation targeting six Republican incumbents.
The internal documents are explicit. The Rural House Accountability Project – organized by the Rural Democracy Initiative – instructs participants to "distribute content across a selection of Real Voices Media's 500 Facebook and Instagram pages."
The six Republicans in the crosshairs are Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Zach Nunn in Iowa, Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, and Scott Perry in Pennsylvania, and Derrick Van Orden in Wisconsin.
The plan calls for "trusted local messengers" – parents, nurses, farmers, and veterans – to produce anti-Republican content and push it into community feeds, church email lists, and neighborhood groups, with donations flowing through ActBlue's Rural Victory Fund.
Real Voices Media's community manager application asks candidates directly: "How often do you talk about politics or policy issues on your channels?"
Each hire runs at least three pages, builds the audience, keeps the conversation going, and answers to a central director. That is a campaign operation wearing a community's face.
Heather Holdridge and the Planned Parenthood Connection
Real Voices Media's managing director is Heather Holdridge, who spent ten years at Planned Parenthood Federation of America before taking this job, rising to national director of digital content and campaigns – responsible for integrating digital strategy directly into Planned Parenthood's political work – before leaving in 2021.
In 2022, Holdridge told Axios that Real Voices Media built communities around "nonpolitical things" and "everyday interests."
The 2026 project tells a different story: an explicit electoral assignment, spelled out in writing, to flip Republican House seats using the trust those communities already built.
Open Secrets shows Real Voices Media has already spent more than $7.9 million on Facebook ads, and the MacArthur Foundation has bankrolled the Rural Democracy Initiative with $1 million.
The anti-Trump ads have already run – a 2024 Standing Up for the Working Class ad asked followers "Why is Trump so cozy with union-busting Elon?" and accused Trump and Elon Musk of "screwing over working people."
Another ad showed a $999 iPhone becoming $1,199 under a "Trump tax." Both ran through November 6, 2024.
Democrats' History of Facebook Influence Operations
This is not the first time Democrats built a fake-community operation on Facebook.
In 2018, investigators exposed a company called News for Democracy – funded by Democrat mega-donor Reid Hoffman – that created 14 Facebook pages explicitly modeled on Russian troll farm tactics. The pages masqueraded as news sites while pushing Democrat political objectives, and Facebook removed them for violating its authenticity policies.
Democrats also ran a false flag operation in the 2017 Alabama Senate race, creating pages that posed as conservative Alabama Baptists to manipulate Republican voters.
That got exposed too, and Democrats built the next one anyway.
This version is different in scale – 273 pages, 500 total across Facebook and Instagram, targeting specific Republican-held congressional districts, run by trained community managers accountable to a political director, with a former Planned Parenthood executive at the top, MacArthur Foundation money underneath, and ActBlue processing the donations. This is a machine.
The mom who joined Keto Help for Crazy Busy Women for low-carb dinner ideas has no idea she signed up to be a target in a Democrat congressional influence campaign.
Democrats are counting on her never finding out.
