Democrats rely on tech oligarchs to prop them up.
But a revolt is under way by Silicon Valley’s “captive” Conservatives.
Because this Trump-supporting tech billionaire just made an announcement that has Democrats quaking with fear.
Silicon Valley billionaire Peter Thiel made shockwaves when he supported Donald Trump in 2016 and appeared on stage at the Republican National Convention ahead of the election.
Thiel, who is gay, got a standing ovation from the crowd only to see LGBT publications claim that he was “no longer gay,” illustrating the bizarre way the Left judges identity groups based on their fealty to the Left.
And Peter Thiel just made an announcement that has Democrats nervous about a budding revolt among Silicon Valley Conservatives.
Thiel is leaving the board of Facebook/Meta.
Thiel is reportedly leaving to focus on supporting America First candidates in the 2022 midterms.
“Peter has been a valuable member of our board and I’m deeply grateful for everything he has done for our company,” Facebook/Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said of Thiel’s departure in a statement.
Thiel’s $500,000 investment in the early days of Facebook helped launch Zuckerberg’s company and while on the board, Thiel supposedly advised Zuckerberg on how to handle political pressure from the Left.
The advice held for years as Zuckerberg initially repelled calls from leftists for censorship.
For example, when renowned Hollywood screenwriter Aaron Sorkin pushed for more policing of speech on Facebook, Zuckerberg replied by quoting a monologue Sorkin wrote for the fictitious president in the Rob Reiner film The American President.
Lead actor Michael Douglas said in the film:
“America isn’t easy. America is advanced citizenship. You gotta want it bad, ’cause it’s gonna put up a fight. It’s gonna say: You want free speech? Let’s see you acknowledge a man whose words make your blood boil, who’s standing center stage and advocating at the top of his lungs that which you would spend a lifetime opposing at the top of yours. You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then the symbol of your country can’t just be a flag; the symbol also has to be one of its citizens exercising his right to burn that flag in protest. Show me that, defend that, celebrate that in your classrooms. Then, you can stand up and sing about the land of the free.”
Ironically, Reiner, Sorkin, and Zuckerberg have all abandoned the principles of that speech.
Today, Facebook is heavily involved in censorship and algorithmically suppressing stories.
Company spokesman Andy Stone fully admitted that Facebook “slowed the dissemination” of The New York Post’s bombshell Hunter Biden “laptop from hell” story prior to the 2020 election.
Released emails also showed that Zuckerberg was willing to tailor discussion on the platform to the whims of Dr. Anthony Fauci.
With Thiel leaving the company, there is one less Conservative voice in the room to talk some sense to Zuckerberg and Facebook/Meta will likely continue its descent into left-wing madness as Democrats push for more censorship and control.
But Silicon Valley Conservatives “captive” to leftist Big Tech companies could follow Thiels lead.
And such a revolt has Democrats nervous their censorship regime’s days could be numbered.
