A Soros Prosecutor Helped an Illegal Alien Murderer Get a Passport and Escape the Country

George Soros has spent $117 million installing radical prosecutors in cities across America.

Now one of his hand-picked DAs just took that agenda further than anyone thought possible.

What this Virginia prosecutor did for an illegal alien murderer is now a federal case.

Fairfax County DA Steve Descano Got an Illegal Alien Murderer a Not Guilty Ruling and Then a Passport

In 2019, Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda stabbed his roommate Mohammed Hemmatian to death inside their Vienna, Virginia home. Police found him covered in blood from head to toe. He told officers, "I am guilty."

He never went to prison.

Soros-backed Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano's office concurred with a not guilty by reason of insanity ruling in October 2022 – after taxpayers funded a Muslim psychiatrist to evaluate a man whose own lawyer admitted he was "fixated on religious topics."

Two years later, in May 2024, Descano teamed up with the killer's defense attorney to ask a judge for something extraordinary: permission to escort the man to the Tajikistan embassy in Washington so he could obtain a foreign passport.

A Soros-funded prosecutor using his office to get a foreign passport for an illegal alien murderer.

The judge signed off.

Steve Descano's Illegal Alien Murderer Used a 48-Hour Pass to Flee the Country

On June 29, 2026, Judge Stephen Shannon blocked any permanent release, ruling Toshpulodzoda "remained mentally ill and in need of inpatient hospitalization."

One week later, the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute handed him an unsupervised 48-hour community pass anyway.

Fairfax County had been paying for an apartment for Toshpulodzoda to use during these outings.

He didn't go to the apartment.

On July 6, 2026, Toshpulodzoda walked out the door, drove to Dulles Airport, and flew home to Dushanbe, Tajikistan – stopping through Istanbul on the way. Court documents obtained by The Daily Wire confirm the route.

He had the passport Descano helped him get.

Virginia authorities have since issued an arrest warrant covering any future attempt to re-enter the United States.

They have made no mention of attempting to locate him abroad.

Steve Descano's Fairfax County Record on Illegal Alien Crime

Steve Descano won the Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney seat in 2019 after George Soros-backed groups poured more than $650,000 into his campaign to oust the incumbent.

Two recall efforts failed to remove him. Then Congress summoned him to testify.

In Fairfax County in 2026, illegal aliens made up 75 percent of all murder suspects, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Descano's office had dropped nearly every charge against Abdul Jalloh – 30 arrests, almost all dismissed – before Jalloh allegedly stabbed Stephanie Minter to death at a bus stop in February.

The DOJ launched a formal "pattern or practice" civil rights investigation into Descano in May 2026, led by Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon, examining whether his office gave preferential treatment to illegal aliens in charging and plea decisions.

Descano called the probe "partisan attacks."

Cheryl Minter, who lost her daughter to those policies, told 7News: "I had to lose my daughter for it to happen."

The Toshpulodzoda case isn't the outlier. It's the model.

Since 2021, Descano's office has pursued insanity agreements for 13 accused murderers. Over that same period, 15 Fairfax County killers walked out of court without a conviction – nine of them foreign nationals – according to data compiled by Virginians for Safe Communities.

Contrast that with neighboring Loudoun County, where Republican prosecutor Bob Anderson publicly objected when the mental hospital proposed giving an insanity-acquitted murderer unsupervised outings. The hospital reversed its decision.

In Loudoun County, the killer never got his pass. In Fairfax, he got a passport.

George Soros wrote in a 2022 Wall Street Journal op-ed that he had "no intention of stopping" his support for what he called "reform-minded prosecutors."

Abdulloi Toshpulodzoda is living proof of what that reform looks like.
