Boston Public Schools Budget Cuts Hit Teachers as Wu Funds Migrant Welfare
Boston is staring down a $48.4 million budget deficit right now.
Mayor Michelle Wu has already ordered department heads to slash 2 percent from their budgets.
The city froze hiring, cut travel spending, and limited food expenses to try to close the gap.
Boston Public Schools is facing a $53 million shortfall – and staffers are bracing for layoffs.
Three schools are already scheduled for closure under a Wu-backed realignment plan that would displace 850 students.
And in the middle of all that – Wu's city agency quietly cut checks to a nonprofit handing out $250 to $500 cash vouchers to illegal aliens for massages, acupuncture, yoga classes, gym memberships, and something called "creative healing."
The program is called "Belonging Matters."
It was created by OUTnewcomers, a nonprofit that the city's own Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement funds directly – your tax dollars at work.

OUTnewcomers was founded by Sal Khan, a 33-year-old Pakistani illegal alien who came to Massachusetts in 2019 and now runs the organization as executive director.
Khan performs drag under the name Miss Chilly Masala and describes himself on Instagram as an "angry brown queer."
In May 2024, Khan was arrested on an MBTA bus for resisting arrest and trespassing and spent 57 days in an ICE detention facility.
He launched a GoFundMe in September 2022 to cover his legal bills.
And the city of Boston – the same city telling teachers to expect cuts – is funding his nonprofit to hand out spa vouchers to illegal aliens who share his politics.
In March 2026, Wu's Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement awarded over $1.3 million in grants to organizations including OUTnewcomers, the Gateway Pundit reported.
The majority of that city-funded cash comes directly from Boston's fiscal year 2026 operating budget.
Wu Skipped St. Patrick's Day to Attend a Ramadan Market
Wu has made clear who she thinks Boston belongs to.
Two weeks before she skipped the city's annual St. Patrick's Day Breakfast – a decades-old tradition she attended just last year – Wu showed up at a Ramadan Night Market at city hall.
The breakfast at Ironworkers Local 7 Union Hall in South Boston went on without her.
Her excuse: she went to church with her family.
The Fenway crowd on April 3 had already delivered their verdict – booing Wu and Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey off the field in front of 36,233 fans and the entire 1986 Red Sox American League championship team.
Wu forced a smile.
This is the Democrat playbook and it runs in every city they control.
Eric Adams did it in New York – he slashed preschool seats, ended Sunday library service citywide, and eliminated summer programming for tens of thousands of middle schoolers while migrant services consumed billions.
Chicago did it too.
Now Wu is doing it in Boston – freezing city hiring, threatening teacher jobs, closing schools, and cutting checks to a nonprofit run by a man who was in ICE custody two years ago.
Republican gubernatorial candidates had the footage posted on social media before the game ended.
Wu is up for reelection in 2029 – but Boston's teachers, parents, and taxpayers are paying attention right now.
