Trump delivers on 77-year promise to exit WHO
The United States officially severed ties with the World Health Organization after 77 years of membership.
Trump signed the executive order to withdraw on his first day back in office on January 20, 2025.
The one-year withdrawal process concluded this week, ending decades of American taxpayers funding an organization that parroted Communist China’s lies about COVID-19.
“The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization due to the organization’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic that arose out of Wuhan, China, its failure to adopt urgently needed reforms, and its inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states,” the Department of Health and Human Services announced.
Trump tried to pull America out of the WHO back in July 2020 during the height of the pandemic.
Biden reversed that decision on his first day in office and restored American funding to the corrupt organization.
Now Trump has finished what he started.
WHO Director General practically begged America to stay
WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus spent the last year desperately trying to convince Trump to change his mind.
The Ethiopian politician who runs the globalist health agency knows his organization can’t survive without American taxpayer dollars.
The United States contributed between $160 million and $815 million to the WHO every year over the last decade.
That money funded an organization that bungled the early COVID-19 response by accepting China’s lies at face value.
On January 14, 2020, the WHO endorsed China’s claim that there was “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission” of the virus.
Nine days later, after finally getting limited access to Wuhan, the WHO reversed course and acknowledged human-to-human transmission.
By then, the virus had already spread across the globe.
Tedros praised Beijing’s handling of the outbreak and called Chinese National Health Commission Director Ma Xiaowei his “brother” even as China covered up the severity of the pandemic.
Taiwan warned the WHO in late December 2019 that the virus could spread between people.
The WHO ignored Taiwan’s warning because China controls the organization and refuses to recognize Taiwan.
Trump just killed the WHO’s totalitarian pandemic power grab
The WHO withdrawal does more than just cut off American funding.
It destroys the globalist organization’s plan to control America during the next pandemic.
The WHO adopted amendments to the International Health Regulations in June 2024 that would have given the organization power to declare public health emergencies and order lockdowns, travel restrictions, and vaccine mandates in member states.
Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Secretary of State Marco Rubio formally rejected those amendments in July 2025.
“The amended IHR would give the WHO the ability to order global lockdowns, travel restrictions, or any other measures it sees fit to respond to nebulous ‘potential public health risks,'” Kennedy and Rubio said in their joint statement.
The WHO also pushed a separate Pandemic Agreement that countries adopted in May 2025.
That treaty would have forced America to share pharmaceutical technology and drug manufacturing secrets with other nations during health emergencies.
The United States refused to sign it.
Trump’s withdrawal from the WHO makes all of it irrelevant.
America won’t be bound by globalist health treaties that strip away constitutional rights and hand control to unelected international bureaucrats.
Anthony Fauci defended the WHO throughout the pandemic even as it parroted Chinese propaganda.
The WHO withdrawal strips away the last vestiges of globalist control over American health policy.
Trump has made it clear America will work directly with other countries on disease surveillance and public health priorities rather than through corrupt international bureaucracies.
He freed America from 77 years of globalist control and made sure taxpayers never again foot the bill for an organization that chose China over the truth.
