Republicans needed the weakest possible Democrat in the Texas Senate race.
They found the perfect candidate.
And Jasmine Crockett was tricked into running for the Senate after Republicans pulled off this jaw-dropping plan.
Republicans goaded Crockett into race she can't win
The National Republican Senatorial Committee just pulled off a masterclass in political manipulation.
They wanted the most unelectable Democrat possible in the Texas Senate race.
So they fed Jasmine Crockett's ego until she couldn't resist running.
In June, serious Texas Democrats like Colin Allred, James Talarico, Beto O'Rourke and Joaquin Castro met to discuss the 2026 Senate race.
Crockett wasn't invited because they know what Republicans know — she's toxic to swing voters.
NRSC operatives noticed Crockett wasn't at that meeting and saw an opportunity.
They commissioned a July poll specifically designed to make Crockett think she was surging in the Democrat primary.
"When we saw the results, we were like, 'OK, we got to disseminate this far and wide,'" a source told NOTUS.¹
The NRSC worked to "orchestrate the pile on of these polling numbers to really drive that news cycle and that narrative that Jasmine Crockett was surging in Texas," the source bragged.²
They seeded the bogus polls "pretty aggressively into progressive digital spaces" and organized phone calls flooding Crockett's office begging her to run.³
Crockett's ego couldn't handle seeing her name at the top of polls.
"The more I saw the poll results, I couldn't ignore the trends that were clear," Crockett admitted during her Monday announcement.⁴
She fell for Republican bait hook, line and sinker.
Crockett believes her own hype despite losing every time
Here's what Crockett's massive ego won't let her see — she's a national embarrassment waiting to happen.
Her viral moments work great in a safe Dallas district where 90% of voters are Democrats.
But Texas swing voters aren't impressed by someone who became famous for calling Marjorie Taylor Greene a "bleach blonde, bad built, butch body."
Crockett has never won a competitive race in her life.
She won a safe Democrat seat in the Texas House in 2020, then jumped to an even safer Congressional district in 2022 after longtime Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson retired and endorsed her.
Now she thinks those easy wins in deep-blue Dallas qualify her to flip an entire state that hasn't elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1988.
Even Crockett herself admitted the truth before her ego took over.
"I don't think that there's a Democrat that can take out Cornyn," Crockett told reporters in October.⁵
She was right the first time.
But a few fake polls later and suddenly Crockett thinks she's invincible.
The woman's ego is genuinely the size of Texas.
Democrats handed Republicans a gift-wrapped victory
Republicans are barely containing their glee.
"Jasmine Crockett leading her primary is the latest sign that the Democrat Party is being run by radical leftists," NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez said after Crockett's announcement.⁶
RINO Senator John Cornyn — who worked with Biden on gun control and supports amnesty — called Crockett "radical, theatrical and ineffective" and promised his campaign would "make sure every Texas voter knows how absurd her candidacy is."⁷
Even Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton — who's running against Cornyn in the Republican primary — admitted "everyone knows Crockett will be soundly defeated" in a general election.⁸
Paxton predicted Crockett would lose by "double digits."⁹
When your own primary opponent and even a gun-grabbing RINO like Cornyn both say the Democrat will lose in a landslide, that tells you everything about how weak Crockett is.
Colin Allred dropped out of the Senate race the same day Crockett announced.
Allred lost to Ted Cruz by 8.5 points last year even though he's a former NFL player with a moderate image who spent tens of millions on his campaign.
If Allred couldn't beat Cruz, what chance does a radical leftist like Crockett have?
Democrats just nominated someone whose entire political identity is being combative on Twitter and cable news.
That might get retweets from the socialist base, but it doesn't win elections in Texas.
Crockett's ego means Republicans keep the Senate seat no matter what
Here's why Republicans are celebrating.
Democrats were running two formidable candidates before Crockett's ego got involved — Colin Allred and James Talarico.
Polls showed both of them would be competitive against whoever wins the Republican primary.
Now Democrats are stuck with Crockett, who has never faced a tough race and whose brand of radical leftist theatrics is exactly what swing voters can't stand.
Republicans even admitted they're planning to prop up Crockett's campaign through the primary.
The NRSC is having conversations about "stand up independent expenditure arms and offshoot brands that aren't necessarily overtly Republican entities, but that would prop her candidacy up to try and give us a better shot at facing her."¹⁰
Translation: Republicans will run fake Democrat groups to help Crockett win the primary because they know she's the easiest to beat.
Crockett's too busy believing her own hype to notice she's being played.
This is what happens when someone's ego outweighs their judgment.
Crockett saw some manufactured polls, convinced herself she was the next Barack Obama, and jumped into a race she has no business running in.
Democrats needed a serious candidate who could appeal to moderates and independents in a state Trump just won by 14 points.
Instead they're getting a social media celebrity whose idea of political strategy is going viral on TikTok.
Even in a bad year for Republicans nationally, Texas was always going to be tough for Democrats.
Now it's impossible.
Crockett's ego just guaranteed Republicans keep this Senate seat no matter who wins the primary — whether it's the conservative fighter Ken Paxton, rising MAGA star Wesley Hunt, or even establishment RINO John Cornyn.
And the best part? She did it to herself.
Republicans didn't have to force Crockett into this race.
They just had to feed her ego and watch her self-destruct.
