Americans fought a revolution to throw off British tyranny.
Now the British government is trying to control American speech through the back door.
And Britain's top official was busted running a secret campaign to silence American conservatives.
The Foreign Censorship Plot That Targeted The Federalist
Morgan McSweeney is the most powerful unelected official in Britain.
As Prime Minister Keir Starmer's chief of staff since October 2024, McSweeney controls virtually every aspect of the British government.
But investigative journalist Paul Holden just exposed what McSweeney was really doing before 10 Downing Street.
For years, he ran a covert global censorship operation targeting conservative news outlets on both sides of the Atlantic — a sophisticated foreign influence campaign funded with hundreds of thousands of pounds and coordinated with the Biden administration.
Between 2018 and 2020, McSweeney ran Labour Together, a supposedly neutral think tank that functioned as a political hit squad against anyone challenging the establishment.
Labour Together secretly funded Stop Funding Fake News, an astroturfing operation posing as grassroots activists concerned about misinformation.
Stop Funding Fake News was created, funded, and directed by powerful British left-wing operatives targeting outlets that supported Brexit, Donald Trump, or anti-establishment voices.
McSweeney handed them a shell company called Brixton Endeavors that later became the Center for Countering Digital Hate — the same foreign organization that tried to get The Federalist banned from Google's advertising platform in June 2020.
Let that sink in.
A British political operative who now runs the UK government was secretly orchestrating censorship campaigns against American news outlets during a presidential election.
NBC News Collaborated With Foreign Agents to Destroy Conservative Media
The Center for Countering Digital Hate's CEO Imran Ahmed bragged about the strategy in an October 2020 State Department conference.
The CCDH "put together a program called stop funding fake news" to eliminate ad revenue from news sites, Ahmed said.
News websites are expensive to run, so cutting off advertising meant "within a couple of months, you can completely eviscerate the economic base of a website."
That's not activism — that's economic warfare.
And Ahmed found the perfect accomplice in NBC News.
In June 2020, right in the middle of the presidential campaign, NBC News "reported" that Google had banned ZeroHedge and warned The Federalist over supposedly "racist" comments about George Floyd protests.
But NBC News didn't report the story — they created it.
NBC News notified Google about CCDH research, manufactured a controversy, and then reported on the controversy they manufactured.
The NBC reporter even publicly thanked CCDH for its "collaboration" in trying to destroy The Federalist.
Think about what that means.
A British foreign influence operation coordinated with an American news network to pressure a tech company into silencing conservative media during a presidential election.
The Federalist survived because it fought back.
But how many other outlets got crushed by this operation before anyone knew what was happening?
McSweeney Broke British Law to Fund the Censorship Campaign
Morgan McSweeney didn't just create these operations — he funded them illegally.
Between 2018 and 2020, Labour Together received £739,000 in donations it failed to report to the UK Electoral Commission.
The organization was found guilty and fined in September 2021 for violating election law.
That's three-quarters of a million pounds in dark money funding foreign interference.
McSweeney used that money to perfect his censorship playbook on British outlets first.
"Destroy the Canary or the Canary destroys us," McSweeney told Labour Together MPs according to documents.
The Canary was a left-wing news site that supported the wrong Labour politician.
So McSweeney's Stop Funding Fake News operation went after them with the same tactics they'd later use against American conservatives — pressuring advertisers, manufacturing outrage, economic strangulation.
By August 2019, they'd forced The Canary to downsize.
The formula was brutally effective: Screenshot articles you don't like, post them on Twitter targeting brands, threaten boycotts, watch the money disappear.
Major companies like Adobe, eBay, and Manchester United caved to the pressure.
Once McSweeney perfected the system on British outlets, he turned it loose on American conservatives.
The Biden Administration Welcomed the Foreign Censorship Operation
The U.S. government should have investigated a foreign censorship operation targeting American citizens.
Instead, the Biden administration coordinated with them.
The Center for Countering Digital Hate established a U.S. operation in December 2020 and began coordinating directly with the administration.
CCDH's Head of Policy emailed Department of Homeland Security officials to coordinate strategies.
By September 2022, CCDH was meeting with White House officials, the National Safety Council, and State Department counterterrorism officials.
A British censorship group run by a Labour Party operative was meeting with Biden's White House to coordinate attacks on American speech.
The White House even cited CCDH research in official policy documents in March 2023.
CCDH bragged it was "able to feed in research and policy recommendations" that shaped administration policy.
This is exactly what the Foreign Agents Registration Act was designed to prevent.
America First Legal filed a formal complaint with the Department of Justice in August 2025 demanding an investigation into whether CCDH violated federal law.
House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan subpoenaed CCDH in August 2023 for documents about its government coordination.
CCDH refused to comply and has stonewalled Congress ever since.
George Soros Bankrolled the Foreign Interference Operation
Every censorship campaign needs funding.
The Washington Free Beacon revealed in November 2025 that George Soros' Open Society Foundations gave $250,000 to CCDH for "general support."
Of course Soros was involved.
The grant enabled CCDH's campaigns against The Federalist, Daily Wire, Breitbart, and every other conservative outlet that threatened the establishment narrative.
British taxpayers unknowingly funded it too.
The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation gave £200,000 to CCDH in 2024 after receiving more than £300,000 in UK government deposits.
So British and American taxpayers funded a foreign censorship operation targeting American citizens.
When Donald Trump won in November 2024, McSweeney doubled down.
He sent over 100 Labour Party staffers to campaign for Kamala Harris in the final weeks of the election.
Trump filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission accusing Labour of illegal foreign interference.
The man now running the British government spent years building a global censorship network, broke election laws to fund it, coordinated with the Biden administration to deploy it against Americans, and then tried to swing the 2024 election against Trump.
Americans Didn't Fight a Revolution to Submit to British Censorship
The Founders declared independence from Britain because they refused to let a foreign power control American lives.
They fought and died so Americans could speak freely without permission from London.
Now a British official who runs his government spent years building a sophisticated operation to silence American conservatives through corporate pressure and government coordination.
This isn't about enforcing community standards or fighting misinformation.
This is about foreign control of American speech.
McSweeney's operation is part of a larger global censorship regime that stretches from London to Washington to Silicon Valley — all designed to silence dissenting voices and control what Americans can say and hear.
Democrats look at Britain's censorship regime and see exactly what they want for America.
Anonymous "activists" pressure corporations.
Compliant media manufactures controversies.
Tech companies cave to the pressure.
Government officials coordinate behind the scenes.
Dissenting voices disappear.
The Trump administration needs to investigate whether Morgan McSweeney and the Center for Countering Digital Hate violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act by running what amounts to a foreign censorship operation targeting American citizens.
Americans fought one revolution to throw off British tyranny.
Conservatives shouldn't have to fight another one to protect our First Amendment from foreign operatives who think they can control American speech from across the Atlantic.
