CDC shuts down all primate testing in unprecedented victory
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just announced it will end all research on primates following orders from HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.¹
Sam Beyda, a former DOGE staffer now serving as CDC's deputy chief of staff, delivered the directive as part of the Make America Healthy Again agenda.²
The Trump administration is working with White Coat Waste Project to retire as many of the 200 surviving monkeys as possible to sanctuaries.
Anthony Bellotti, president of White Coat Waste Project, told The Gateway Pundit that Secretary Kennedy delivered on his promise by completely shutting down CDC's primate labs where hundreds of monkeys were infected with deadly viruses at taxpayer expense.³
This represents an unprecedented assault on the animal testing industrial complex that Fauci spent decades building and defending.
Fauci's legacy of animal cruelty gets dismantled piece by piece
The CDC announcement is just the latest domino to fall in Trump's systematic dismantling of Fauci-era animal abuse.
Earlier this year, the EPA revived Trump's first administration plan to phase out animal testing by 2035, including a 30% reduction by 2025.
The agency introduced programs enabling staff to adopt rats and fish from government labs.⁴
These actions reversed Biden's cancellation of the 2019 plan.
The National Institutes of Health shifted policies effective October 1, 2025 to prioritize human-based research over animal models.
During Trump's first term, White Coat Waste Project investigations forced the FDA to end nicotine addiction experiments on baby squirrel monkeys and retire survivors to a sanctuary – a federal first.
In 2019, Trump's USDA shuttered its largest cat laboratory after WCW exposed a $22 million boondoggle involving purchasing dog and cat meat from Chinese wet markets and force-feeding it to kittens in a Maryland lab where over 5,000 animals perished.⁵
Fauci defended puppy torture then lied to Congress about it
The beagle experiments represent the most notorious chapter in Fauci's animal cruelty legacy.
Documents obtained through FOIA requests revealed that Fauci's NIAID division spent $1.68 million to cut the vocal cords out of 44 beagle puppies so they couldn't bark while being force-fed experimental drugs.⁶
The puppies were six to eight months old when they were repeatedly injected with toxic substances before being killed and dissected.
NIAID also shipped part of a $375,800 grant to a lab in Tunisia to drug beagles and lock their heads in mesh cages filled with hungry sand flies so the insects could eat them alive.⁷
When confronted during Congressional testimony in June 2024, Fauci admitted he "signed off on them because they were approved by a peer review."⁸
This came after years of dismissing reports about beagle torture as "lies" and "lunacy" from the "far-right" in his memoir.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene confronted Fauci while holding up photos of beagle test subjects.
"As director of NIH, you did sign off on these so-called scientific experiments," Greene said. "As a dog lover, I want to tell you this is disgusting and evil."⁹
Senator Joni Ernst pressured NIAID to cancel a planned $1.8 million contract for additional beagle experiments after BeagleGate erupted.¹⁰
Trump delivers on promise to end taxpayer-funded animal cruelty
The CDC primate shutdown exposes how Fauci built an empire of taxpayer-funded cruelty that produced virtually no meaningful results.
After 40 years of HIV research using primates, no vaccine has emerged despite billions spent torturing monkeys.
The Trump administration recognizes that organ chips, human cell-based models, and AI-driven biomedical tools deliver better results than forcing animals to suffer in outdated experiments.
White Coat Waste Project documented experiments during Fauci's tenure that included creating "transgender monkeys," staging hamster fight clubs, and injecting puppies with cocaine.
95% of funding for transgender animal experiments came from Fauci's NIAID division.¹¹
The lack of transparency and accountability allowed this abuse to flourish unchecked.
Agencies don't track how much money gets spent, how many animals are used, or what taxpayers are getting out of it.
Conservative journalist Laura Loomer and White Coat Waste Project are pushing to transform Fauci's "Monkey Island" in South Carolina into a sanctuary for 3,700 primates.
WCW also renewed its push for the Navy to terminate its $40 million annual "Marine Mammal Program," which experiments on dolphins and sea lions captured from the wild.¹²
Anthony Bellotti summed it up perfectly: "Taxpayers bought these animals, and we want Uncle Sam to give them back. Dogs, cats, primates, and other animals abused in wasteful government experiments deserve a second chance."¹³
As Trump restores America First policies, these reforms prove that cutting government waste and ending animal cruelty go hand in hand.
And it's driving Anthony Fauci absolutely insane that his legacy of taxpayer-funded torture is being systematically dismantled.
