Maxine Waters made one delusional claim about Trump that confirms she’s lost it

Maxine Waters has spent years attacking Donald Trump with increasingly unhinged rhetoric.

But she just crossed a line into pure fantasy.

And Maxine Waters made one delusional claim about Trump that confirms she's lost it.

Waters defends calling Trump "filthy president"

California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters appeared on CNN's The Story Is after getting hammered for calling President Trump a "lowdown, dirty, no good, filthy president" at a press conference about ICE raids.

Host Elex Michaelson asked Waters if her inflammatory language was "unhelpful" and "deepens the divide" in America.

Waters made clear she doesn't care what anyone thinks.

"I don't care what they say," Waters fired back. "Let me tell you, the President of the United States calls everybody names. And he just said to a journalist, a woman journalist, called her piggy. He called someone a big, fat slob. And so, he's doing it all the time."¹

Then the 86-year-old Congresswoman said something so disconnected from reality it should disqualify her from public office.

"He gets away with it," Waters continued. "The media does not challenge him, does not resist him."²

Wait, what?

The media doesn't challenge or resist Donald Trump?

Waters claims media gives Trump a free pass

Let that sink in for a moment.

Maxine Waters just claimed the American media doesn't challenge Donald Trump.

The same media that spent four years promoting the Russia collusion hoax doesn't challenge Trump.

The same media that impeached him twice doesn't resist Trump.

The same media that called him a fascist, a dictator, and compared him to Hitler for eight straight years apparently gives him a free pass.

CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post — according to Waters, none of them challenge Trump.

This isn't just wrong.

It's detached from reality to a degree that should concern anyone who cares about Waters' mental fitness.

Waters apparently thinks Trump calling reporters names proves the media coddles him.

She's forgotten they spent years promoting anonymous sources claiming he was mentally unfit, secretly working for Putin, and planning to become a dictator.

The media that spent a decade attacking Trump apparently doesn't resist him

Where was Waters during the Russia collusion hoax that dominated coverage for three years?

Did she miss when CNN, MSNBC, and the major networks devoted hundreds of hours to the Steele dossier — a document we now know was Democratic opposition research?

Was she asleep when the media promoted every anonymous source claiming Trump was compromised by Russia, only to have Robert Mueller find zero evidence of conspiracy?

Did Waters somehow miss two impeachment circuses where the media served as cheerleaders for Democrats determined to remove Trump from office?

The first impeachment was over a phone call with Ukraine where Trump did nothing wrong.

The second impeachment happened after Trump told supporters to "peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard" on January 6.

The media treated both impeachments as if Trump had committed treason.

But according to Waters, the media doesn't challenge him.

Harvard study proves Waters is living in fantasy land

A Harvard University study from the Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy analyzed Trump's media coverage during his first 100 days in office.

The results demolished Waters' claim that media gives Trump a free pass.

Trump's coverage was 80 percent negative to 20 percent positive.³

CNN and NBC struck a 93 percent negative tone on their Trump stories with only 7 percent positive.⁴

CBS clocked in at 91 percent negative coverage.⁵

Even the New York Times (87 percent negative) and Washington Post (83 percent negative) far exceeded the negativity threshold.⁶

"Trump's coverage during his first 100 days set a new standard for negativity," Harvard professor Thomas Patterson wrote. "In no week did the coverage drop below 70 percent negative and it reached 90 percent negative at its peak."⁷

By comparison, President Obama received 60 percent positive coverage during his first 100 days.⁸

But Waters thinks the media doesn't challenge Trump.

The New York Times and Washington Post won Pulitzer Prizes for fake Russia stories

The media's obsession with destroying Trump reached such heights that the New York Times and Washington Post won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for their coverage of alleged Trump-Russia collusion.⁹

The Pulitzer Board praised them for "deeply sourced, relentlessly reported coverage" that "dramatically furthered the nation's understanding of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and its connections to the Trump campaign."¹⁰

There was just one problem.

The entire Russia collusion narrative turned out to be a hoax.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence Trump or his campaign conspired with Russia.

Special Counsel John Durham's report confirmed the FBI investigation should never have been launched.

Yet the Pulitzer Board still refuses to rescind the awards.¹¹

Waters claims this same media doesn't challenge Trump.

Waters has zero credibility on civility

Waters lecturing anyone about proper conduct is rich.

She told supporters in 2018 to confront Trump Cabinet members wherever they saw them — restaurants, department stores, gas stations.

She's called Trump "a cruel, dishonorable human being."

She demanded his impeachment months after he took office in 2017.

She's accused his supporters of being "domestic terrorists" preparing for "civil war."

But when Trump fires back at hostile reporters, suddenly Waters claims he gets favorable treatment.

The woman who spent years demanding Trump's removal now claims the media coddles him.

It's beyond parody.

Waters' claim that the media doesn't challenge Trump is so absurd it raises serious questions about whether she's fit to serve in Congress.

Either she's lying to justify her own vicious attacks on Trump, or she's genuinely lost touch with reality.

Neither option is good.
