James Carville has been involved in politics for more than 50 years.
He asked Democrats to do something they’ve never done before.
And James Carville had one scary piece of advice for Democrats that no one saw coming.
James Carville asks Democrats to roll over and play dead
Democrats have been struggling with how to respond to President Donald Trump.
It’s become clear that they can’t run a replay of the resistance strategy they used during his first term.
Veteran Democrat strategist James Carville admitted that his party was overwhelmed about how to respond to Trump because of the flurry of actions he’s taken since returning to the White House.
Carville argued that the Democrats should make the “most daring political maneuver” in the history of the party in an op-ed for the New York Times.
He told Democrats to “roll over and play dead” and bet on the Trump administration becoming unpopular.
“With no clear leader to voice our opposition and no control in any branch of government, it’s time for Democrats to embark on the most daring political maneuver in the history of our party: roll over and play dead,” Carville wrote. “Allow the Republicans to crumble beneath their own weight, and make the American people miss us.”
Carville admitted that the fear mongering and hysteria about Trump by Democrats was no longer connecting with the public.
“I don’t think a lot of Americans are waiting around for us to use the same old arguments and same old language to pile on Donald Trump — they’re tired of it, and our Democratic voters are tired of watching us moan and groan to cover up our impotency out of power,” Carville stated.
This is an admission that Democrats can’t offer voters an alternative or come up with an effective message.
All they have left is to hope that Trump implodes and things work out in their favor.
Carville asks Democrats to make a risky bet
The veteran Democrat strategist claimed that Trump’s approval rating would eventually collapse and create an opening.
“Only until the Trump administration has spiraled into the low 40s or high 30s in public approval polling percentages should we make like a pack of hyenas and go for the jugular,” Carville claimed. “Until then, I’m calling for a strategic political retreat.”
Carville predicted that the long tail of Biden economic policies would eventually cause the economy to collapse under Trump and Republicans, which would give Democrats an opportunity to pitch themselves as the alternative.
He estimated that Trump was 30 days away from a complete collapse in polling.
Trump is more popular than he’s ever been since he entered politics in 2015.
He currently has the highest approval rating of his political career in his second term.
Meanwhile, Democrats are polling in the low 30% range.
Carville famously boasted that former Vice President Kamala Harris was going to win the election last year.
He and the Democrat party are all out of ideas and don’t have anything to offer voters.
They could learn a hard lesson that hope isn’t an effective political strategy.
