The #MeToo movement brought down many bad actors in the media.
The movement effectively died after women’s groups refused to believe Joe Biden’s accuser.
But the woke outrage mob is champing at the bit to revive #MeToo over this shocking allegation against a bestselling author.
Neil Gaiman in big trouble
The #MeToo movement exposed rapists like Harvey Weinstein, who had long had a reputation for being a total creep.
The movement also had its excesses.
Comedian Aziz Ansari was smeared as some sort of a “predator” because of a bad date in which a woman had consensual sex with him even though she later claimed to not really be attracted to him.
But now, another media figure is in the midst of career destruction after being accused of sexual assault by multiple women.
British author Neil Gaiman is facing allegations from at least five women who made lurid claims of sexual misconduct.
Perhaps the most disturbing allegations came from Scarlett Pavlovich, a 22-year-old who was babysitting Gaiman’s five-year-old son.
New York Magazine reported that “Gaiman led Pavlovich down a stone path into the garden to an old-fashioned tub with a roll top and walked away. She got undressed and sank into the bath, looking up at the furry magenta blossoms of the pohutukawa tree overhead. A few minutes later, she was surprised to hear Gaiman’s footsteps on the stones in the dark. She tried to cover her breasts with her arms. When he arrived at the bath, she saw that he was naked. Gaiman put out a couple of citronella candles, lit them, and got into the bath.”
Gaiman was introduced to Pavlovich by his wife Amanda Palmer, from whom he is currently separated; the two are in the process of getting a divorce.
New York Magazine added that Gaiman “stretched out, facing her, and, for a few minutes, made small talk. He bitched about Palmer’s schedule. He talked about his kid’s school. Then he told her to stretch her legs out and ‘get comfortable.’”
Pavlovich told the outlet, “I said ‘no.’ I said, ‘I’m not confident with my body’. . .He said, ‘It’s okay — it’s only me. Just relax. Just have a chat. . .Don’t ruin the moment.’
New York Magazine also reported, “Gaiman asked her to sit on his lap. Pavlovich stammered out a few sentences: She was gay, she’d never had sex, she had been sexually abused by a 45-year-old man when she was 15. Gaiman continued to press.”
Pavlovich continued, “The next part is really amorphous. . .But I can tell you that he put his fingers straight into my ass and tried to put his penis in my ass. And I said, ‘No, no.’ Then he tried to rub his penis between my breasts, and I said ‘no’ as well. Then he asked if he could come on my face, and I said ‘no’ but he did anyway. He said, ‘Call me ‘master,’ and I’ll come.’ He said, ‘Be a good girl. You’re a good little girl.’”
Gaiman responds
Gaiman responded with a statement on his website that read, “I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever. . .Some of the horrible stories now being told simply never happened, while others have been so distorted from what actually took place that they bear no relationship to reality.”
The other accusers had similar stories of humiliation during sexual encounters.
Gaiman said through his representatives that “sexual degradation, bondage, domination, sadism, and masochism may not be to everyone’s taste, but between consenting adults, BDSM is lawful.”
Meanwhile, several of Gaiman’s adaptations are being put on hold amid the allegations.
Only time will tell if Gaiman will be thrown onto the #MeToo pyre, or if he can save his reputation.
