The recently shuttered GEC has already risen from the dead
Under Joe Biden’s watch, the federal government actively worked to censor Americans online.
A number of controversial government agencies were created for the sole purpose of monitoring and ultimately silencing Americans online.
This primarily applied to Americans who stepped in the way of the Biden-Harris regime’s radical agenda.
The State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC) resembled one of the most well-known and well-funded censorship programs.
To the delight of American internet users, the GEC recently shuttered its doors, seemingly putting an end to its dubious practices.
In December Unmuzzled News warned that the shuttering of the GEC would not guarantee an end to federal government-sponsored censorship.
Instead, the federal government would have the ability to keep censoring Americans under different banners.
Last week, Roger Kimball of American Greatness confirmed these fears shouldn’t be ignored.
Kimball pointed to the “Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference Hub,” which he deems as a polysyllabic, “rebranded” version of the GEC.
The writer added, “Many of the people employed by the GEC are now employed by the new ‘hub.’ They’ll need new business cards, stationery, and signs for their offices. Doubtless, there will be other expenses. But since much of the GEC’s budget has been ‘realigned’ to the new shop, that won’t be a problem.”
Kimball compared the rebranding of the GEC to the mythical Hydra, which would not die after having its heads cut off, but instead multiplied its heads with every stroke of the sword.
He then offered his solution to this issue, claiming, “We know how to decapitate the hydra-like monstrosity that is the woke-inspired administrative state. Completely defund its activities. I believe Donald Trump has the gumption to do that. We will know within days of his taking office whether he does.”
As Kimball notes, defunding the activities of the GEC, the “Counter Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference Hub,” and every other organization that facilitates censorship is the first step to putting these practices to an end.
If Americans hope to truly slay the censorship “Hydra,” they must demand Congress strip funding for all censorship activities and that the courts enforce prohibitions.
History will likely not look fondly on Joe Biden as he prepares to leave office
Throughout most of his Presidency, Joe Biden sported some of the lowest approval ratings of any President in modern American history.
Under his watch, the federal government expanded its size and scope, weaponizing its authority to violate the fundamental rights of Americans.
Many historians agree that history will not look fondly on Joe Biden, who oversaw many failures and routinely spit in the face of personal liberty.
