Kamala Harris suddenly becomes a gun owner
Vice President Kamala Harris began rebranding herself to become more palatable to swing state voters after she replaced President Joe Biden in July.
She spent her decades-long political career dating back to her days as San Francisco District Attorney supporting every gun control measure put in front of her.
But now that Kamala was running for President she began talking about how she didn’t want to take anyone’s gun – while still calling for a so-called assault weapons ban – and talking about how she owns a Glock.
“I have a Glock, and I’ve had it for quite some time,” Kamala told 60 Minutes. “My background is in law enforcement. And, so there you go.”
Kamala makes it a point to try and reassure swing state voters that she and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are gun owners.
Kamala wants to stop anyone else from owning a gun
The Vice President has supported some of the most extreme gun control measures in the country during her political career.
Kamala backed 2005’s Proposition H as San Francisco District Attorney which made it illegal to sell or possess a handgun in the city.
She wrote a brief to the Supreme Court that claimed banning handguns wasn’t a violation of the Second Amendment.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2008’s District of Columbia v. Heller that the Second Amendment allows for the ownership of a handgun for self-defense.
The measure passed but was eventually overturned by the courts for being blatantly unconstitutional.
National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action executive director Randy Kozuch told Fox News Digital that Kamala is a career gun grabber to the extreme.
“Throughout her political career, Harris has been rabidly anti-gun and supported measures that prohibit the possession of handguns by law-abiding, peaceable Americans,” Kozuch said. That position is not only radical in modern American politics but goes further than most gun control activists are willing to admit.”
Kamala continued her war on the Second Amendment when she was elected California Attorney General.
She expanded California’s 2001 Unsafe Handgun Act to require that all handguns sold in the state be micro-stamped.
California lawyer Chuck Michel said that change “resulted in the number of models of handguns that are available for people to buy in California going from tens of thousands to just hundreds.”
“The manufacturer has to put this little raised number on the inside of the chamber and on the firing pin so that … if police find the cartridge case at a crime scene, they can try and trace it back to a gun,” Michel explained.
Michel said that Kamala worked to stop efforts to eliminate California’s “good cause” requirement, which requires that any Californian trying to obtain a concealed carry permit prove they have a so-called “good cause” to need a gun.
“Kamala Harris never met a gun control law that she didn’t like,” Michel said. “She supported everything that the extreme progressive San Francisco City Council ever proposed. She tried to limit concealed carry by intervening in a court case to block a Ninth Circuit win. She obviously supported Prop H. And she supported the D.C. handgun ban with an amicus brief in the Heller case that she took the lead on. And she certified microstamping.”
Kamala Harris has proven in many voters’ minds that she is willing to tell them whatever she thinks they need to hear to get herself elected.
